I think it's more geared to picking a random game that you think will be good not necessarily an English team

That said on paper arsenal Vs PSG is a good game, then you've got Dortmund Vs Celtic, Leverkusen Vs Milan, decent enough games tonight

It's the 8 game thing aswell. Let's say Arsenal lose today (just gone 1 up). 1 point from first two games in a six game group and you're pretty much at must win stage already. Arsenal could just draw their first four games and still comfortably go through winning three of the last four so it's just the lack of Jeopardy which is prevalent in most cup competitions.

PSG must have one of the youngest forward lines in the competition now, all of Zaire-Emery, Barcola and Doue barley out of nappies. Lee Kang only 23 (can remember him being linked to us in first few months of Emery.

Even though we're in it the CL is so boring at this stage isn't it? I had no idea who Man. City and Liverpool were even playing this week until I just checked.

Give me a chaotic Norwich-Leeds championship midweek dust up everytime....

It's even more boring at this stage considering there is practically no way that any top team won't be playing in the CL after Christmas.

Give me the 6 group games where more often than not at least 1 top team would get knocked out and drop down to the Europa.

Yeah I definitely think you've just got to see the group stage as a bit of fun now rather than full of pressure and meaningful results

The last rounds as the league takes shape and the movement up and down could and should be really good but who knows

I do genuinely think clubs will follow Chelsea's lead in future seasons given they omitted Palmer and a few others from the group stage.

Just looking at the Man. City team, they have likes of Bernardo Silva, Walker and Ruben Dias on the bench. They could've omitted all three from the whole group stage, still comfortably qualified and then they're fresher for the knock outs starting in February.

Just had a look to see which teams had gone out in the old group stage format over the past 3 years.

Barcelona finished third twice.

United finished bottom of their group last season.

Milan finished bottom and then third in two consecutive seasons.

Ateltico finished bottom of their group the other season.

Juve finished third the other season.

Dortmund finished third the other season.

The old format was just much much better.

I could probably already tell you 5 who will get knocked out. Bratislava, Sturm Graz, Young Boys, Red Star and Club Brugge. With the likes of Feyenoord and maybe Celtic to follow just leaving one more space.

Is Adeyemi an actual striker? Worth an England call up in near future?

Adeyemi? He's German 😜

Gittens is the English kid, ex man city, maybe not talked about enough yet he's doing well, quiet tonight though

Watching the CL goal channel hoping to get a bit from every game but it's pretty much the Dortmund-Celtic game with a new Dortmund goal every other minute

Arsenal's going being allowed doesn't sit right. Yes Partey and Trossard (?) didn't touch the ball but they were right in the keeper's eyeline and influenced how he was going to try to save it. The ball went in because they were standing there, if they weren't it would have been a routine stop.

Borussia Dortmund-Celtic could be interesting tonight, both teams good going forward but maybe not so good at the back. In saying that, Celtic haven’t conceded a goal in the SPL so far this season but have tended to shoot themselves in the foot in Europe recently, particularly away from home.  They do try and play out from the back but doing that in the SPL and Europe are two entirely different ball games. Also their best CB, Cameron Carter-Vickers, is injured and misses the game tonight. Kyogo can be deadly up front with his movement and pace and Maeda wide on the left is constantly pressing and chasing back defenders, a real team player. If his finishing and crossing were better he would be playing at a much higher level, although he seems to have improved since Rodgers went back to Celtic.

well its interesting. Celtic are absolute rubbish as usual

Looks like Martinelli didn't touch it either, it's a goal from the free kick?

Keep it going Dortmund.

Just waiting for the media up here to mention the money differential between the clubs and it is not a level playing field!..............something they fail to mention at domestic games..........they beat St J 6 . 0 at the weekend and there was no mention of money.

Yeah I don't  like these set pieces. They basically put a player on the keeper to put him off. Then cover his eyeline when the ball comes over.

All about blocking the keeper really, dark arts, or cheating.
