maqroll Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I think we WILL win a trophy this year. I can't think of any argument against us being able to win either domestic cup. Winning the Premier League and/or the Champions League might be beyond our reach, but you never know, especially if Man City are docked points. I'd prefer to win the league without Man City being docked points, but whatever. They won Premier League trophies by cheating. As for the CL, I'm confident we will progress to the knockout phase, and have a glimpse of the Cup. We'll see! But even if we can't win any of these competitions, we are part of the conversation for each, and we won't be taken lightly by ANY of the sides we face. We are relevant again!
CarryOnVilla Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I’ve got a hunch that we going to a final. Had all summer, still have it now. 1 1

Rob182 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I hope we win all the trophies! I just can’t see it yet. Emery has done miracles, but we do still have weaknesses that we don’t have a bottomless pit of money to solve.

I don't know why, I think this season will be quite disappointing, I've got a horrible feeling of too much too soon, but with failure comes growth, so next season is where I'd put my money.
It's Your Round Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I think the re-qualification for the Champions League is the main priority. That will provide the funds required to further build a side that can compete near the top and get to cup finals. We have the ability to beat anyone on our day, we just can’t go full strength in every competition. If we do well this year and finish top 4 or 5 again, I can see us going all out for the FA Cup.

If he plays a weakened side v Prem opposition that will be going strong because of no Europe then we know we’ll be throwing the domestic cups which are our only chance of silverware.
RichW Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Sadly no. Think the focus will be on trying to maintain our position in the league this season. Expect Palace to not be far off full strength against our heavily rotated side and see a repeat of the Everton game last season. FA Cup possibly but we tend to get drawn with tough sides.
lexicon Posted September 27 Posted September 27 We're in a position where we can't really prioritise domestic cups, which would be the best chance of winning one. I'm going for no. But it's OK - I'm not used to winning trophies and this is a season where we need to build foundations to be able to challenge top 4 regularly and get CL again if possible. I wouldn't take one cup now at the expense of our future for the next 5 seasons.
Captain_Townsend Posted September 27 Posted September 27 We are capable but I think we will prioritise the league. A club like us would probably have a better chance of winning a cup if it looked like we can't qualify for Europe via the league. That is just my opinion
