VillaAlex Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Bit bizarre how players are being offered around but apparently Monchi likes swap deals and they work on profiles and how Emery can work with players in a system rather than specifically targeting players for all roles.
Ceemo Posted June 19 Posted June 19 https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/juventus-aston-villa-douglas-luiz-barrenechea-calciomercato Quote The negotiation between Juventus and Aston Villa to bring Douglas Luiz into the Bianconeri had suffered a sharp slowdown in recent days, due to the lack of agreement between Weston McKennie and the English. Initially the American midfielder, former Schalke 04 and Leeds, was supposed to return to an exchange that would also involve Samuel Iling Jr. At Aston Villa would also have been an economic adjustment of about 18-20 million euros. As recounted in recent days, the parties had therefore begun to evaluate alternatives. Now the two companies are looking for a square with a different solution, changing the cards on the table and inserting in the negotiation a new name, that of Enzo Barrenechea. The Argentine midfielder, born in 2001, spent the last season on loan at Frosinone, such as Matias Soulè and Kaio Jorge. Now McKennie is definitely cut off from the exchange between the two clubs, and above all the news is that Aston Villa has given Juventus its ok for these new conditions of the transfer. Now we will try to make ends meet: in the "maxi-exchange" there would be, in addition to Douglas Luiz, Enzo Barrenechea and Iling Jr, and the Bianconeri will still pay a balance in favor of the British. If there is an agreement, we will therefore move towards a successful conclusion of the deal. The backstory concerns Matias Soulè: the striker, class 2003, would be the first choice of Aston Villa for the exchange. There were also in the last minutes of the contacts, but Juventus makes a wall, and pushes to insert Barrenechea.

Tom13 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 So McKennie has rejected us, or he still has an issue with Juve? Apparently they offered us Moise Kean before this guy.

Delphinho123 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 So odd. I was saying to the missus only last night that I wouldn’t mind seeing Barrenechea in a Villa shirt. 4

Bentancur was a first team player, he played regularly for Juventus and his national team. You can't compare him with Enzo. But Enzo is not a bad player, only his level is a low-middle team: Everton, Wolves ecc. There is a reason if Juve want to sell Enzo and buy Douglas Luiz... 1

The "swap" deals seems to be a mechanism of selling players to clubs who have no money, benefits both clubs FFP numbers It's something that makes sense and could become more prevalent

_AA_786 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Only seen bits of him during Serie A but didn't take too much notice of him to form a proper opinion. Can only imagine this means more money has to be paid by Juve (probably better for us maybe) as its taking out an established international for a relative youngster. At this stage would much prefer Hujisen or Soule but will trust Monchi and Unai to get who they like best from those being offered
