All the favourites on the left side, England and other underperforming nations on the right.

England getting the easy route yet again... Is Southgate the luckiest man alive?

It's possible the right hand side of the draw could be:

Belgium v Netherlands

Austria v Czech

England v Romania/Slovakia

Italy v Switzerland

It’s pretty incredible how every tournament opens up like this for him.

And yet we still don’t win anything.

Bizarrely with our side of the tourno opening up, it’ll highlight another opportunity missed when we inevitably whimper out of the knockouts.

It’s over for Southgate, the generally partisan crowd and media have turned against him and the players look disinterested and lacking direction.

To miss all of Germany, Portugal, France and Spain before a final is some going really. They'd all likely beat England comfortably.

You'd expect to have to beat one of them in a SF, even QF as we saw at last World Cup.

Idk if easy, England would be knocked out by Italy/Switzerland playing like they have so far.

We'd be knocked out by whoever it is, but the side of the draw is still relatively easy. Doesn't mean our match will be easy, but that's more because we're crap.

Think Austria have overpeformed tbh. They have been superb so far. Italy have a tough game v the Swiss as well.

I'm upset that I can't like this 😞; The Southgate jokes in the last 24 hours have consumed all my allowes reactions.

Our side is unquestionably the "easy" side. But our path to the final is still most likely:

  1. Netherlands
  2. Italy
  3. Belgium

It could definitely have been much worse, but if Southgate somehow turns this tournament around and goes through those teams to the final, it'll be an incredible turnaround and we'd be worthy finalists, no matter how terrible we've been so far.

Foden gone home for birth of 3rd child. Maybe he brings it back on Sunday and Gareth can stick it in midfield.

Only saying it cos I don't know what it is yet

England will play Netherlands next, unless either Czech Republic beat Turkey or Georgia are victorious against Portugal. Then, England would play Slovakia in R16.

I hate Southgate, but this is true.

I can't see how we would beat one of them, let alone three. We might fluke a result, but fluking three is just miracle territory.

So if we do face those three, and win them all, I'll have to start question my sanity and praising Southgate.

Bad planning by the Foden family…shouldn’t have been due whilst Euros are on. Unless he thought we wouldn’t get out of the group

Not for me. Life is more important than anything. You can't delay a child over hypotheticals. Maybe a slight factor that it's their third, and they have indefinite financial security that means waiting a month wouldn't have been the end of the world for them, but still don't hold this against him.

He'll probably be back for the game and even if he isn't it's probably a blessing in disguise that Southgate will have to do something different. It's also possible he would have missed the birth if it was likely to cause him to clash with a game anyway.

I love the idea of Southgate handing out shagging schedules, "if you really have to, lads".

It is still possibly

1. Georgia

2. Switzerland

3. Austria
