I was shocked there's not already a thread for him.

Anyway, my Euro 2024 content viewing is about to begin right now on ITV 4, with him apparently starring.

Taken from the programmes description:

Road to UEFA EURO 2004

Euro 2024 is almost here - in this episode of a programme looking ahead to the tournament, Euro 2000 legend Savo Milosevic reflects on finishing as its top scorer.

He parted on bad terms after the spitting incident but I think if he ever came back and was presented to VP he'd get a good reception.

He really wasn't a bad signing at all. 3.5m (which was a big fee in those days) but scored the famous goal v Leeds, hit double figures in two of his prem seasons, set up more for Yorke and then in his final year scored a couple in our Uefa cup run.

I forget who he's managing these days so could end up managing in England one day perhaps.

Met him in a multi storey car park of a shopping centre in somewhere like Sutton Coldfield. Got his autograph, legend.

Dogging?

Yeah, can't hold that against him. Even he regrets it:

"The Blackburn game is still the most stupid thing I have done in my life. It was so stupid, I don’t know why I did it. It’s one of those things that happens and you can’t explain it. I still wish I didn’t do it. I was young and I learned from that, but it was a sad way for things to end for me at Villa because I love the club and the fans."

I remember walking out of old Wembley with hoards of Villa fans belting out "Savo Scored at Wembley, la, la, la, la".

According to wiki he scored 12 goals in 37 appearances during his first season. The season before, £5m PL transfer record Chris Sutton scored 15 in 40 (again, according to wiki).

It’s not exactly terrible in hindsight when looking at it in those terms. I think it was, in part, let’s have a dig at the foreign fella with the funny name.

I was at that game, and every Villa player, bar none, was having a stinker. The travelling Villa fans were mightily pissed off, and giving it "You're not fit to wear the shirt" with both barrels. But there were a few pissed-up meatheads down the front who were targeting Savo with particular venom - and he reacted. Wrong, but understandable.

Probably a bit of that but he was also very slow and missed a few sitters as well as miss hitting quite a few too. Crazy that even despite that he scored 12. We must have been creating loads. If only xG was around back then.

Yeah I accept some of the criticism would be valid. But I think things like the language barrier, adapting to a new country, a new team, a new league, doing this while he was 22…these factors would be considered a little bit more when assessing him these days. I’d like to think anyway.

Boom, boom, booom, lemme hear you say Savo!

I loved singing this at Villa Park. The sad little runt that I was made up further verses of the Out-here Brothers tune.

I was, bizarrely, at Highfield Rd that day, watching a cracking 2-2 draw between Coventry and Arsenal. (Think there were a couple of red cards and penalties.)

When the news came through that we had lost 5-0, you can imagine the roar from the Cov fans. The most one sided rivalry in all of football. Representatives for North East Somerset
