If the man continues on this sort of trajectory we finish on damn near 70 points.

I think our current position in the League table, masks just how incredible this points haul has been.

2.28 ppg by my calculation.

Yep I base a good season on 1.6 as it takes you to 60 which for me is the mark where you can do something like get in the europa league or know you weren't far off the CL places.

2.28 is title winning form in a lot of seasons.

Again, you're talking about the push, which would be soft, but as well as the push, he trod on the back of his ankle. It's a clear foul that took our player out of the game, there's nothing soft about it, IMO

This, the push may have been soft, standing on his Achilles certainly wasn’t

It seems like we win and win and dont get closer to top half !

Or get much further from the drop zone. Still around 10 points? Makes sense though from the appalling start. We'd be right up there with Newcastle.

My stream was a bit in and out so I may of missed a few bits here and there, but I thought we played quite well, in terms of what an away performance should be.

We controlled the first half, I think Emery would of enjoyed seeing that control, the keeping the ball, working the Southampton players, making them chase it down. In the second half we lost control, but stayed in the game and in the end managed to scrape a win.

I'd rather be missing opportunities than failing to create any, our play in the final third still needs some work, but there's progress and it only takes a new player to come in or someone like Bailey to find a hot streak and we'll really be in business.

There's progress everywhere you look, we're much harder to beat, mentally tougher, we have multiple plans of attack and a confidence on the ball that was missing before, we can dictate games for a period of time, we've never really had that since promotion, we are really starting to look like a good team.

This was an obvious banana skin that Villa teams of old would of happily slipped on.

There's still work to do, but the progress is such a short time is really encouraging.

Take that, I'd be fair annoyed if I was Southampton fan, really got away with that VAR decision, never a foul

Really? He shoved him in the back while treading on his ankle. I know players dive but in a situation like that if it wasn’t a foul why would Ramsey not just head the ball away as it dropped perfectly to him instead of lying down?

Seem to be becoming smash and grab specialists. I like it

I haven’t seen the final stats but when I looked we were on 70% possession and had had more than triple the number of shots they had?

The commentary I was watching kept going on about the shove, and how soft it was.

I knew straight away it wasn’t disallowed for the shove, you can clearly see Ramsey going down holding his ankle.

Sure, but it sounded like one that could have gone either  way, but we nicked  a goal in a tight second half

It was a performance from a team who has learnt the art of winning.....personally, I am over the moon.

there are no points for artisitic impression......We ground that out, and its been missing from our make up, for years.

This. We have a new mentality which was a big part of why, despite our decent personnel, we kept getting turned over prior to Emery.

The sense of self belief is as good as a high level signing, we know we can win because we keep doing it. We are not great at the moment, but are set up so much better, and this is just the first step: keep improving, increase familiarity of system, add better players. We are solid, heaven help the opposition when we start playing very well.
