I think we were actually quite good today, until the ball got the front 4 that is who really need to fix up. Our build up was generally positive.

Honestly, we probably have been a bit lucky with these results, today again with Bazunu being absolute garbage but it's all working so far long may it continue.

Emi martinez take a bow, he was the difference today.

No idea what Emery has put into these players drinks but we have become such a solid team in the space of a few weeks, literally chalk and cheese from the Gerrard era.

So thats why everyone wants one of these good managers!

The only negative was just how off the pace Coutinho looked when he came on, he will need to up his game to get on this pitch more than he is.

I have a smug expression at the moment

We seem have a manager that knows what he wants, has generated results with only one player added so far. The team are playing how he wants, the high line is scary at times, but we are winning and only now the commentators have realised we are quietly closing in on the top 6. We can all be smug and quiet because we know just how good we will become

3rd straight road win!

Deserved three points, was not easy, but we played some beautiful football in patches. Really solid defensively and our goalkeeper is just unbelievable.

Ollie played well and took his chance. Hopefully he keeps improving.

It's a repeated thing under this manager where we don't play champagne football - in fact we look kind of sloppy on the ball quite a lot of the time - but we do enough to win the match anyway. In this case aided primarily by Martinez, who produced two huge saves and was always in the right position to act as sweeper.

It's honestly a crime that we're still in the bottom half somehow, but only 3 points behind Fulham and Brighton, having played the same number of games as the former. In Emery we trust.

An effective performance even if it wasn’t entertaining at times , players know their roles and stick to it and with a bit more composure in front of goal and we win that comfortably .

Kamara MOTM for me , ran that midfield again ,

nice to be looking upwards at the table thinking can we catch 7th , rather than can we spawn a win to get us to 17th

Ollieeeeeee ! 😀

Wow. Five out of seven from Unai now, how ******* brilliant is this?! 😵 I wonder when a new Villa manager last won five of their first seven games in the top flight. Maybe he was a Victorian?!

Just now, Nigel said:

off the pace Coutinho looked when he came on

He looked awful to be fair, movement, first touch, looks ready for Saudi Arabia or China. Terrible waste of money and he looked different class a few times when he first came. Maddening and sad in equal amounts.

A team with more efficient forwards would have put 5 past Southampton today. They were pretty poor.

Not every day your keeper is motm when the opposition only have 6 shots on goal but some of the stuff Emi did today was absolutely audacious. What a keeper!

Thought Ramsey was our best outfielder today, although he's still a bit rusty.

Moreno looks a little bit off it. Next few games will be a good measure of where he's at.
