maqroll
For some reason I regularly look back to this event. It's haunting. This is a really good documentary about the tsunami and the effort in Japan to mitigate damage of future big surges. mjmooney Posted January 12, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted January 12, 2023 I'd completely forgotten about this. I always remember the 2004 one.
Wainy316
I was in Korea when this happened. Japan basically acts as shield for the peninsula for most natural disasters.

I remember the 2004 one vividly as I was snorkelling off the coast of Ko Phi Phi when it struck that was an eventful day!
Loxstock92
This and the 2004 tsunamis are something I’ll never forget. Every time I got to a beach/near the ocean I’m always looking out to the horizon it had that much of a lasting impact it had on me. It’s frightening to think how 70% our planet have that much destructive power.
