I don't think the performance was too bad.  Manager got to see what the 2nd 11 is about.

3 mistakes by the goalkeeper and some poor communication aside, we were in the game all the way to the end.

That was a proper Nylandesque performance. Atrocious. We need a new number 2 big time. Young, Kamara, Bailey and Luiz only players to really come out with any credit. Nice finish by Watkins. Surprised at how poor Chambers was to be honest. Can’t stand Man Utd. Despise the ****.

it was a poor line up and a big chance missed but as ever we’re our own worst enemies.

Annoyingly all the positivity from Sunday has evaporated quicker than ever. Suppose if given tbe choice, the 3 points on the weekend was more important. Hopefully we make up for it at the weekend and forget all about this calamity

Olsen looks terrified every time he plays for us. I gave him the benefit of the doubt against Man City last season as it was Man City and his first start for Villa, but he's consistently looked terrified every other time I saw him. He doesn't come for the ball, he doesn't command his box, he doesn't command defence. Our defence were also poor tonight, but I feel like if we had Martinez between the sticks they wouldn't have been as poor. I don't mean to pile on Olsen as McGinn and some others were also shite tonight, but I really do feel like the standard policy of playing your shite keeper in the cup has bitten us in the ass here.

Squad rotation, giving players an opportunity is no excuse for forfeiting the game with an inept keeper. Many of us called it before the game, a quick look at his previous games for us should of told them he's a liability.

Absolutely no fault can be laid at Emery’s door, gave everyone a run out and inevitably the second string did compete fairly well, minus Olsen.

 

Glad we beat them in the league and whilst I’m not too bothered we didn’t progress in the cup I’d have loved to have beat these twice in five days, as I actually cannot stand them and that rat faced scumbag and their fake cockney fans and their spoilt, petulant ways. 
 

Bring on Brighton. Hope you miss out on CL and continue in your downward spiral you vermin felchers.

he got us playing a high line, then started a keeper who was literally glued to his line which cost us 2 goals 

he starts Emi, we win that easily.

Eh is what it is. Piss poor defending. Not helped by a very shaky goalkeeper which made the whole defence more nervous.

Work in progress. Bailey again showing what he’s capable off. McGinn doesn’t fit in with a team that wants to hold on to the ball for more than 3 seconds. Watkins hit and miss.

Never want to see Olsen play for us again, McGinn was his usual rubbish self .... told you lot we should have sold him two summers ago!

No idea why we rested so many with only one game left to play.

More misplaced passes than i’ve seen in a very long time.

Our second goal probably would have been ruled out by VAR for handball. 

We got what we deserved.

Hopefully Unai has better idea of players who need binning off.

8 goals conceded by Olsen in 125 minutes against Newcastle and Man Utd. Could have been two clean sheets had Martinez played. Olsen makes great saves, but everything else is just horrible. Maybe it's because of lack of playing but who cares, if he can't jump in when needed he shouldn't be a back up goalkeeper.

Emery got to know his squad better. Not too bad performance overall, just some horrible defending and goalkeeping.

We need a new backup keeper and a really good CB. Hopefully Carlos comes back and shines but we need more.

Plenty to learn.

Olsen had a mare - if that's a freakishly bad performance then they need to knock it out of him - three of those goals shouldn't happen - if it's not a freakish one off, then we need to bin him off and bring in a better keeper.

We need a striker - Ollie was exhausted, Ings doesn't have the energy we need to play ninety minutes and it doesn't look like Emery fancies Archer - Ollie is our best striker by a distance and he's massively inconsistent in his touch.

We look good playing in a shape and keeping things simple - and struggle when games open up.

We're a lot less fit than United - in the last twenty minutes or so, they simply out worked us and out ran us - we looked dead on our feet and we had five subs on - they need to work on that.

The good was our first half organisation and that Bailey and Watkins look dangerous on the break while they're fresh. Bailey gives you fifteen minutes of unstoppable in games whether from the start or off the bench. A number of players got some football in their legs and the manager will have had a good look at a few.

The bad was pretty obvious - one to forget for the Swedish stopper.
