Over here, the day after Thanksgiving is the traditional start to the Christmas season, hence Black Friday sales. It’s my annual trip onto the roof with my wife saying to be careful because I’m getting too old. What starts as a mission to string lights invariably gets sidetracked into gutter cleaning as I notice all the redwood needles clogging the downspout. On a related note, my crowing achievement as an adult came when taking down the lights one year. I neatly zip-tie the strings for storage as I pull them off the gutter. I had a rubber-banded bundle of zip-ties with me on the roof and the container, a tube like the picture below, was on the sidewalk. I leaned over the edge and dropped the bundle and it landed perfectly in the tube. The room for error to achieve this was probably less than half a centimeter. I knew at that point that nothing I did for the rest of my life would ever equal this feat in terms of difficulty, execution, or general usefulness to society. 3 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
