He is seriously as bad as heskey was Did Ings even touched the ball against Leeds, for enough he was only on the pitch for a few minutes, but still. Because Gerrard refuses to play two central midfielder that are comfortable on the ball that can pass, our defence is forced to hoof the ball forward. Watkins is our only forward that works as a target man up front. When I say works, I don’t mean he is brilliant at it, just less rubbish than Ings and Archer in that role. Our main problem is the badly put together midfield. If we can sort that out, we would have the option to start with Ings or Archer, and I’m pretty sure Watkins would look less shit too. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It really is 'doing a Forest' now. As bad as we've been, I don't think even we can lose to Forest. I know we're the perfect team to play against to come out of a rut, but it does require some actual quality on the part of the opposition. I expect we'll win this by more than a goal. He's the best suited of our strikers to the role as we play it and I think we're more likely to have a successful season by getting him working than by trying to adjust to Ings.
