sheepyvillian
Really sad to hear about the passing of our former assistant manager, Roy MacLaren. He was a regular fixture throughout those glory years, serving both Ron Saunders and Tony Barton. He had one of those faces that you never forgot and seemed such an important presence in that dug- out. Rest well Roy, I'm sure Ron and Tony will be there to greet you.
Popular Post FLVillan
Proper assistant manager and loyal to his managers. Never heard from him publicly, never sought the limelight, just went about his job in the most professional manner. We'll never know how pivotal he was in the transition period after Sir Ron left and Tony Barton took over, but I'd take an educated guess and say the stability and consistency he provided was likely pivotal in us becoming the best team in Europe and arguably the greatest team this club has ever produced. As assistant manager he could have thrown his toys out when Tony got the job ahead of him, but there was never even a whisper of discontent. May he Rest In Peace as another Holte-Ender in the Sky....
ChesterDad
Came across him a number of times at Bodymoor - very unassuming and always had time for the fans. Great servant of the club
