Hope they can take confidence from the second half. Hope the positives are heeded by the manager: the use of width from players other than fullbacks in particular.

Ten shots on target, scored several, could have scored more. Sounds like a more professional, rounded performance second half from what I read and saw. Cup games can be a big banana skin so glad we avoided it.

Imagine being Bolton and trying to change the game by bringing on FIFA regens Steve Hendrie and Declan Bowyer and you look to your left and Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey are coming on. Must be demoralizing.

Goal straight from a corner, offside penalty and the Bolton keeper having an out of body experience for the 3rd before we could put the game beyond them. Avoided a banana skin but let’s not pretend that tonight was anything other than poor. Very nervous for the Hammers on Sunday.

Better 2nd half but this is typical Villa, inconsistent for the whole game. West Ham will be a huge test to say the least.
