I'd have rather lost 3-0.

Its the hope that kills you. Need to eradicate this soft underbelly in our team

I don't want us to lose.

Equal I want us to be Aston Villa - not mini Liverpool with a load of scouser old boys.

Who are these scouser old boys you speak of?

penguin makes a good point - fragility is pretty much in the DNA of the club at this point.

The only upside is that I doubt this game will have any lasting ramifications as the loser mentality is already deeply embedded anyway.

The damage from this defeat will be permanent for the team. Line the Wolves loss. Gerrard knows a 5 0 loss would have been better.

He and this team will never recover from this

You think? I mean really?

A meaningless end of season defeat?

For a group that have already started focusing on next season?

I think this one will be gone from the Villa memory by the time tomorrow's papers hit the bin.

Gerrard and his staff in particular have already moved on from this season - the focus is very much on the future.

I think you've said before, its quite a British manager trait to be conservative and think 'just hold on 5 more mins' or to hold a sub back 'just in case'

And by then its often too late

He put Nakamba on at 2-0 up so I wouldn't criticise him too much today for what he did other than I'd have put another sub on at the same time to give us more fresh legs in key area of the pitch.

At 1-2 it was simply on the players and they weren't up to the challenge.

That’s incredibly melodramatic. This team isn’t permanently shattered from this loss.

Villa were brilliant despite being out-classed.

At two-nil it looked all over but City specialise in late goals.

When the opposition have run twice the  distance chasing ball, for the first seventy minutes, it is no wonder they start to lose concentration.

I didn't expect anything off the referee but I still think the pull-back on Watkins by Fernandinho was a foul.

Overall a very good performance against one of the best teams in the world.

West Ham got closer to beating them, but only just.

I can't remember being this gutted. The fact we'll all have to watch this forever on repeat is the worst part about it.

Nah this wasn’t big news. City started the day top, and were never not top. If you’re thinking it’ll be talked about like Agueroooo I wouldn’t worry.
