Garbage , luckily Wolves let us off the hook and saved some humiliation

going to be a big summer (again) , not convinced Gerrard has what it takes if I’m honest , but let’s see what he comes up with after the summer window and a pre season

Hope we get the receipt for Bailey and can take him back …

Weak mentally. Weak decision making. Weak tactically. All round just weak.

Don't see it with Bailey. Looks like a complete waste of money.
Watkins and McGinn had shockers

They looked like they were already on the beach.

McGinn and Konsa losing their feet couldn't have happened at a less favourable time. McGinns touch enough to put him in behind the defenders, and then when he slips, he's on the wrong side of those defenders going on an attack of their own. Then Konsa our last line goes down too at equally poor timing.

It killed our momentum and control over the game. Would have been a very different 90 minutes I feel.

Wolves deserved winners, but my word that first goal was unlucky.

Sanson was a positive.

See you all for the next one.

Just never feel confident he's going to score when he gets one on one like that

He's technically poor. It's all about his athleticism and his application.

I thought Mings and Buendia were the only two that come out of that with any real credit - everyone else was flat and a few were worse than that.

We were out thought by Lage - he's a really organised manager and particularly in the first half Wolves found ways to completely nullify any threat we had - all they had to do then was wait for mistakes - you sometimes don't have to wait long with this Villa side.

I thought Young, Cash, Sanson, Ramsey were okay, Watkins can look terrible when he's not scoring, but he made runs that got him in behind and did score a penalty.

Konsa was flakey, didn't quite seem to be at the races in the first half and McGinn, although he works hard, can't pass a ball and can't run - he's great if play happens right next to him, but he's not getting to anywhere else.

Coutinho was poor and at the moment he's a one game in three player - hopefully he can improve on that consistency, but Buendia was definitely better today.

Bailey looks rusty, like a player that hasn't played much - he needs games, but I'm not sure we can afford to give him many.

Poor - poorly organised, poor application and a poor result - we need to improve in a number of areas.

For me, McGinn is holding us back and Coutinho needs a kick up the arse.

Spurs and Leicester next - lose both of those and there could be trouble.

Stevie Gilet. Charlatan, I fear.

Amazed Ollie scored that.

McGinn still somehow undroppable.

Would rather play Buendia than Coutinho at this point.

JJ still needs a rest.

Sanson tidy and involved, Dougie should've come on for one of the other two.

Bailey chalk and cheese, didn't really get the ball enough though and we were mostly playing in front of them.

Ref trash as usual. Prem must have the worst refs in the world, and I've seen some impressively bad ones here in MLS.

Read the post. The answer is right there!

No additional stoppage time being added tells us that Wolves are the new Burnley? Your post doesn't make any sense mate.

Martinez....fine

Cash......ok today no better, should try and keep.

Konsa..get some longer studs, apart from that fine.

Mings...a bit slack to start with, but generally ok

Digne....need better back up

McGinn....Not bothered either way tbh, if he stays or goes. Hes ok no more than that

Sansom......thought he was our best midfielder today tbh. Rather keep him than Luiz tbh

Ramsey....Ok, needs a rest

Bailey......either play him the next 6 games to have a proper look, or just dont bother. Off the pace, lacklustre, lazy

Coutinhio...not at his best today, but you can still see real quality

Watkins...Again not bothered if he stays or goes tbh. Works hard, but lacks quality tbh

Thought the midfield left the defence a bit exposed today. Dendonker as a CDM?

Gerrardcis rapidly losing support by continuing to play players who clearly need dropping.

There are no excuses for Ramsey konsa and mcginn

That's 3 players in the spine of the team.

No wonder we are so miss and miss with the rare hit.

Big phil being overly used in every attack slows us makes us predictable and easy to defend against.

The players can't be that insecure in their own talent that they must give it to Phil instead of trying something themselves ?

Tippy tippy crap all the time when we reach the box, surrounded by 8 players as we are that slow at moving the ball  they have most of their players back.

Wrong footwear in the 1st half despite doing a warm up on that pitch

It's like a kid has been asked to manage the team at the moment, pick your mates no matter how bad they are and even when every single person in the world is saying "take your mate off, he's havibg a terrible game and part responsible for both goals and adding nothing positive " you refuse and keep him on.

What's been crystal clear for 4 or 5 games

Ramsey needs a rest from 1st choice

Mcginn needs a rest from 1st team choice

Konsa is no where near as dominant in the air or at brining the ball out than Chambers

We need a defensive midfielder rather than playing box to box midfielders in the dfm role. Again, we have Chambers and little Tim who could play there.

Annoyed not just because we lost playing crap, I'm annoyed more because it is very obvious what needs changing to make us solid while keeping some of our attacking talent on the pitch and Gerrard seems totally blind.

Gerrard gets 3 out of ten, very poor

Emi m 7 some good saves although due to the shambles in front of him he now seems very slow coming for the ball.

Cash 6 with Bailey staying out wide cash was mainly ineffective. Was rarely used on the overlap.

Konsa 3 weak on the hole, slow, poor decision making, lazy defending on several occasions today. Just standing there pointing while cash is trying to mark then follow the runner konsa is standing pointing at, not moving you understand just pointing.

Mings 6 always a mings in mings performance but after his mings ( a complete basic error leading to a golden chance for the opponent) he did get better and tried to bring yhe defence out as konsa refused to do anything slightly progressive with the ball

Digne or paper Dean as I now call him. 2 did nothing good in his short time on the pitch.

Young 6 an own goal that killed the game which looked like it came off his shoulder ? But at least tried to get the team fired up from the limp floppy cock effort most were showing.

Mcginn the undroppable ( to give him his full stevie g nickname) 2. Predictable slow and exactly the same moves every game, tries to unnecessarily turn a player in a dangerous area, loses it, throws himself to the floor the opponents break and have a shot at goal. Every bloody game, every single bloody game. But no, he messes up several more times, crap corners throughout the whole game and was a liability today. Needs dropping but unless he is found backing out of stevie g's Mrs , he won't get dropped.

Ramsey 4 another who has looked poor for several games and just needs benching for a bit. Not much if anything worked for him today bar a few decent tackles, was very poor.

Bailey 4 won't use overlap, messes around on the ball overplaying it and did little today bar a decent shot in the first half. Looks to be a bit like gabby, give him time he has to think and it goes wrong, do it instinctively and the talent shines.

Watkins 5 missed 2 easy chances. Got a penalty I wouldn't have been happy if awarded against us and managed to score from it. A few times he held it up well but he has the 1st touch of a rapist the majority of the time. Needs to stop all this crappy 1 inch passes around the box, once or twice a game maybe to do something different but 90% of the time he combines with Big phil ? It doesn't work enough to justify the amount of times they try it.

Big phil 4 slowed the game down wasn't a forward wasn't a midfielder yet every bloody player tries to pass it to him matter what other options are there. This needs to stop ASAP as he is looking overused and not quite so magical because of it.

Sanson 6 was the pick of our midfielders which isn't saying much but was decent enough with little to no help in trying to hold the middle if the pitch. Obviously taken off instead of mcginn to allow mcginns excellent general play to continue.

Emi b 8 gave him motm as he was the least crap and did more in his limited time than Ramsey Big ohil and mcginn combined in 15 minutes.

Gerrard is draining the talent out of our talented players by them having to cover out of form players.

Wolves didn't deserve to win that game, they didn't even have to show up today we just handed the points to them.

2 bits of luck and a well drilled defence meant this was over early on. Its really hard to come back from a goal down in this league which shows the need to cut out the mistakes.

No blame is given to Gerrard today for me, we played ok at times, but this team really needs work if we are to get anywhere.

If Watkins was good enough we get away with at least a point today, unfortunately hard running won't be good enough for where we want to go.

Mings and konsa were both guilty of a lack of awareness in situations, which then led to mistakes.

Coutinho was invisible too, well marshalled maybe, but we need to find ways of creating when he's like this.

Buendia has to be an answer somehow. He added an extra dimension when he came on, he really is fun to watch at times. He was the best player we had today and he was only on 10 mins and barely touched the ball, that says a lot!
