I think he’s excellent, he would improve us no end, he’s just what we’re missing in midfield. No doubt, there will be competition for his signature, there would be for a player of his quality. This potential signing would be a statement of intent. I’ve always him admired from a distance, he has real quality on the ball. The only downside to this signing is that he is quite nasty I think. I can’t understand some of these other posts, I would struggle to name a better defensive midfielder that we could attract

We get Phillips and keep Coutinho and we're a top six team, easy.

Maybe on our best days. Honestly think it will take a fair bit more than that. Chelsea being disbanded would obviously help.

There'll still be someone on here who thinks we should sign him

Agree, it's not just about what we do, the others have such a headstart that we'd need one of them to drop off and arsenal and spurs look alright for next year

I said before I think people underhype our midfield and overrate the rest. Lasr week Romeu and Ward Prowse were overran actually Romeu might have put in one of the shittest midfield performances in a while.... Andre Gomes level

Week before we made the hybrid of Roy Keane/Patrick Vieira/Makelele very anonymous that Brighton dropped him the week after

The other night Allan and Doucoure also i was told would walk into our team yet Bentancur schooled both of them

I'll add to this -

If we sign phillips and arsenal sign Neves do people think we should on paper catch arsenal and get a top 7 finish?

Catching wolves I could see an argument for (but even they no doubt would get uncle jorges next one in) but in my opinion arsenal would still have a stronger team than us after those signings so I wouldn't have that expectation

Agreed. I've seen lots of opposition fans rave about our midfield.

I think Phillips would be a really good signing though. Not that I've been massively impressed for England either.

As noted by others, my main concern is his injury.

Also not sur Eid I've seen enough of him, to know if he'd be worth whatever the would demand, plus English Tax

Could see him staying up North with Newcastle

You wouldn't sign any players though. You're critical of every player to the level only perfection is acceptable. I think most people would agree a Phillip / Bissouma would improve our midfield

You can guarantee anyone who has played for England, Liverpool or Barcelona (even Coutinho) is shit in Zat's mind.  Phillips would be a great signing and should be our number one target over Bissouma.  We should easily have the budget for it I'd have thought.

Like if you are scared of flying you should sit next to someone who has survived s plane crash - cos the chances of them being in a second plane crash are infinitesimal.

Hang on if the chances of them being in a second crash are small, then why do you have to sit next to them?

It’s very rare to survive a plane crash, and if the survivor crashes again she would statistically die that second time. How is this supposed to be comforting?
