We might see Watkins dropped finally and Chambers will be replaced by Konsa. Slim chance Chuck starts. That's all. I think Konsa is still suspended fo this one.

SG needs time to balance this squad, once and for all. Exactly so! It is based on the mistaken idea that if you buy more attacking players, the more goals you will score and the more games you'll win. PSG seem to be a prime example of this sort of thinking. The title-winning Leicester team proved otherwise and Chelsea's transformation under Tuchel was another example.
VillaChris
Would be hugely disappointed if the big answer is to start Young. Think we might see Carney getting another start and McGinn played deeper. Watford will come for a 0-0 although Sarr completely destroyed us in the opening game so he needs to be respected. The team that went down in 19/20 was miles better than what they have now though, would've stayed up at our expense imo if Delofeulo hadn't done his ACL when they won v Liverpool. He's currently our left sided holding midfielder, with Coutinho ahead of him and Digne usually in front of him down the left - where are you thinking of putting him? He doesn't seem to favour Hudson-Adoi either. When Chelsea came to Villa Park, I wouldn't describe them as playing attacking football, they just set out to control the game, bring Villa on to them, and then wait their chance. Villa duly obliged with two defensive errors, and we were done. Edited February 16, 2022 by MakemineVanilla
MaVilla
i imagine Sarr will be back in the first 11 for them?, wasnt he on the bench last game returning from injury or something?
Zatman
Probably our easiest game left of the season. Anything less than a comfortable 2 or 3-0 will be a bad day at the office
BleedClaretAndBlue
They have scored once in their last 6 PL games 2 draws and 9 defeats in the subsequent 11 games since beating Utd 4-1 Must win this, no excuses. If this goes wrong the meltdown will be epic
brummybloke
Game 3 of 3 we should win. Anything could happen in this one, a 4 nil win a 2 nil loss. A solid midfield 3 needs to be used. Even if it is Chambers mginn and doug ( would have sansom in for mcginn or doug). Ramsey needs to be sacrificed for the start of this one as I don't think he has the control to stay in position. Let the front 3 do most of the attacking with full back support. We need a win and keeping our shape will be the best way of trying to get some sort of positive result.

Throw in an inexperienced defensive mid in the form of Chambers, Sanson or Iroegbunam and it could get quite hairy. I’ve been surprised Watford don’t score more when they actually have three decent or even good attacking players in Sarr, Dennis and King.

OutByEaster? Posted February 17, 2022 Moderator Share Posted February 17, 2022 If we defend like we did against Newcastle and attack like we did against Leeds, we'll be fine. If we defend like we did against Leeds and attack like we did against Newcastle it'll be a never ending nightmare of darkness and misery.
