I think that was a brilliant result. 

Probably the hardest crowd we'll play against. They've had a change in the manager, fans getting free drinks, the crowd were really behind them. They got into the refs head and it was very hostile. 

We needed to keep the ball better second half but sometimes you just have to grind out a result.

I think that was a massive victory. It was a battle rather than a game of football and we dealt with it. We would have crumbled in the past.

Good result but I’d have expected most teams to score at least one from the chances Everton had, so I think the score line flattered us a bit.

For all their pressure Everton had just one effort on target that Mings cleared off of the line

Love the fight in the 2nd but Everton had something like 14 shots in the 2nd half. Must be better in the future.

My god, absolute heart in the mouth second half but it's a fantastic win. They had to dig in and deal with a lot of blood, guts and thunder from Everton. 

We need to learn to keep playing football and not reverting to hoof ball when the chips are down. 

But we've won a very very challenging game at the end of the day.

As i said in match thread this is probably gerrard's biggest result thus far but the 2nd half was a terrible watch. When we get into scrappy matches we look awful (re brentford).

One of the worst ref and linesman displays i've seen as well. Ref even gave them an extra minute to try and score.

9 yellows and could have been twice as many. Ref completely lost the plot.

Everton wouodve made that tough for nearly any club today. Tough game, not great performance but grinding out wins in difficult circumstances and when not at your best is what we need to be able to do more of. Not great but good result.

Three points is the main thing without that would have been just one win in seven for us. Good to keep a clean sheet as well, and Buenia getting on the scoresheet.

lucky 3 points but a big 3 points. run of games coming up which we should be aiming to take max points from in order to get us further up the table. wonder if they will get us to play the burnley game soon as there is a big gap between games

Sometimes we’ll be up against teams where technical superiority is important, sometimes like today we’ll be up against bullies and thugs. 
 

The fact that we won with most of the ‘technical’ players in our side- Phil and Emi, bodes well. Not really a game I’d expect Phil to shine.

A win against them feels good. Stops the rot and gives us a platform.
