I’m not sure I like that deal long term, but short term it makes the Sox better. The Yankees could very plausibly finish 4th in the AL East, with both TB, TOR and BOS building solid cases to be rated higher than NYY. This would be the same situation that's taken place with Kyrie Irving in the NBA right? He's only been able to play road games (outside of NY) all season.
