What a strike by Ollie. The high press will get better as the season goes on and this wasn't a bad start. Ramsey, McGinn, and Mings for MOTM don't make me decide.

Great win.

Bit disappointed in how much of the ball we had though. Interestingly, just checked the stats according to the Sky Sports App, both Villa and Norwich had 37% possession in their games. Bit weird?!

Sweet Caroline.

That was a predictably tough match against a side who are very hard to beat.

Hopefully the goal will have given Watkins some much needed confidence and the win will have turned on some much needed positivity for the whole squad.

Clean sheet too - who remembers those?

And who would have thought shoving Ash on as a winger would have led to the turnaround?

Can’t do MOTM until after MOTD.

EDIT - although I see that “To be added later” is currently way ahead of err, “To be added later” 🤣

Young and El Ghazi subs changed the match.

No doubt. El Ghazi’s run made the space for Ollie’s goal, really intelligent play. Young had a cracking game. Buendia is going to be lucky to keep a starting spot I think.

Brighton dominated the ball at times against Liverpool too.

Gerrard isn't going to revolutionize us in 2 training sessions.

Great result. Was a real war of attrition. Cash & Targett were both quality. Nakamba nicking balls was great to see - and he didn't make a balls of it in possession. McGinn was v good. Mings v good. Watkins good when in proper position. Ramsey a great prospect. Ings not good enough again. Buendia average. Changes changed the game for us. Wasn't sure about Young coming on, and was worried when he slotted into JJs space, but did well. Bailey looks threatening but will beed to track back harder. AEG brought energy at the end.

Credit to Gerrard. Team was well drilled. He brought great energy. Would've been happy with a clean sheet at half-time to stop the rot. Amazing to score 2 and shut them out.

Hear a lot about Brighton needing a striker, but they wouldn't control the game as well  without the midfield overloads. They do need ball playing forwards who arrive in the box and can finish.

For me thats the way you play against Brighton, you know they are going to play it side to side and sneak forward, you have to be compact, discplined and focussed , otherwise that possession turns into chances. Its not great for the neutral as it is frustrating to watch if you want high tempo end to end football.

Thought we played it well, Nakamba looked like a footballer too!. position wise hes brilliant, if only he could pass quicker and didn't have the first touch of a sunday league player he would be awesome.

Ollie on the left cutting in was great to see, maybe we can put to bed the Ollie , Ings conundrum and Ollie can be a weapon from the wing. Front three much more narrow today. A few great signs of a system forming.

Great to get the win UTV
