The purpose of this study was to analyse the scanning behaviour of elite youth football players across different playing positions and age groups during high-level matches.

Which I suspect is probably fascinating and contains deep insight for anyone who knows what Scanning is.

His twitter is full of mad football science - drills for players returning from injury using the control chaos continmum, nutrition, NFL coaches and of course, more analysis of scanning. it's worth a read if you're interested in such things.

Oh and scanning means where players look during games.

Looking forward to seeing more of this new technology approach. Why not use artificial intelligence to work out our training methods, give the players VR-goggles to enhance their training experience, connected via blue tooth to their smart phones and use a trendy app from a hyped start up to help the players analyse their performance, then after training they will vote on social media who was the best performer and then they will all take their e-scooters to a secret location which they will find out by scanning a QR-code, and when they get there, they will listen to the daily motivational speech by Dr Tony Xia. And then we will learn how to fit Watkins and Ings in the same team and we will win the league.

i will make an assumption that "scanning" effectively means a player looking up and around them for the best option and not being tunnel visioned, or not looking around for options (ie: playing with their head up).

It studies 53 players over 6 games. Doesn't seem like a large pool for a thesis. Was this for a PhD?
