That first half was a steaming pile of turd in which Lambert would have been proud of.  The penalty was debatable but Arsenal deserved to be  at least 2 up. I can't quite believe Smith put the same XI and formation from the Wolves game when it is clearly not working. The back 5 unit was largely very good last year why bother fiddling with it? We don't have wing backs in the squad- Young maybe if he was 5 years younger.  Buendia is too lightweight to play in the middle and surely its time to start playing Sanson.  Worryingly Ings and Watkins doesn't appear to work- would 30 million have been better spent getting in a quality CM?

No need to panic just yet but we need an improvement in performance at least versus West Ham on Sunday. Smith and the club took the praise last season so they just expect some criticism when the parts at the moment don't add to the sum.

2nd half shows what's to come with Bailey fit

1st half was the worst we've played for a long time, utter shite to a man and manager

Wasn't a pen

So once again we are a one man team?

Don't think so

There's a difference between missing our (potentially) best player and grealish who we played through

Bailey will give us an increase in quality but I doubt we'll be under instruction of "give the ball to bailey" like we were previously

We get all our players back and the quality should increase, we're missing our 2 best wingers and arguably automatic starters, of course we should get better when they come back, we were better 2nd half vs arsenal with just 1 of them and he's not fully fit

Traore wouldn't feature in many villa fans teams, if they were all fit.

We are relying on this "missing players" card a bit too much.
