Chris Cornell - You Know My Name from Casino Royale has been the best of the recent bonds.

I have a real soft spot for The Spy Who Loved Me theme Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon though

Ye, I'll give you the Cornell one, I was well into that Seatlle grunge stuff circa 90, liked Badmotorfinger and Superunknown a lot, what a rock voice, sad he went.

A real sad loss :(

So many gone from that era…

You only live twice and I'll tell you why...

The genius of the old John Barry written theme tunes was he then cut that theme tune in to the main orchestral score of the film

With that in mind the strings of YOLT are absolutely perfect for the film and its Japanese paradise setting, the song is ochestrally heavier than a lot of other bond theme songs

As a stand alone song it's not the best, that's the spy who loved me

Octopussy. All time high by Rita Coolidge.

Liked this but preferred the Jarvis Cocker cover on the David Arnold Bond theme revisit album Shaken and Stirred (the Iggy Pop version of We Have All The Time In The World is also terrific!)

found an example of it -

8 mins in, Barry takes the same strings from the theme for the score, he does it for the majority of his films but this is the one that i think it fits in best

the scene at around 2 mins too, the film has a great score in general
