It has to be “potentially” as the rules are open to interpretation. He isn’t blocking the view of the keeper, and is actually blocking part of the goal so if anything you might argue he’s helping the defence rather than hindering them. He isn’t blocking the view of the keeper, and is actually blocking part of the goal so if anything you might argue he’s helping the defence rather than hindering them. is it the view of the keeper though? the keeper knows he's there, knows its a potential deflection, knows that he can do something to influence where the ball goes - does the fact that he doesnt do anything mean that the influence isnt there? its a gray area created by a stupid rule, same as the one we had vs arsenal last year, to end the gray area just make him offside there is no way that when the goalkeeper is processing information before that shot comes in lingard is not part of that information, therefore in my mind he has influence over the keeper, therefore he is offside Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
