Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Who was first to guess Xisco (thong, th, thong thong thong)?

@zatman was first to mention them. I had them in my post as an outsider.

Ranieri will either be a roaring success or a total disaster, my moneys on the latter.

He won't be a roaring success. He isn't a good manager, his league win with Leicester was a lucky set of circumstances.

Lucky is the wrong word

But his leicester team weren't that good, had some great players but played a relatively simple and incredibly effective brand of football that other teams should have shut down but didnt

And the usual lot were dog shit that year, it was perfect timing to have a good year

Ranieri isn't some world class manager though even if he is a likeable guy

Failed at Chelsea as well given the resources he had. Leicester deserved their title win, obviously, but were helped by the top teams (and Spurs...) having poor seasons. They'd have finished upper-mid table most other seasons.

Ranieiri is an average manager

He deserves credit for their title win just as Tony Barton deserves credit for our European cup win but it was right time right club and he had the three best players in the Premier League that season.  Hes 70 this month and it does seem like a crazy appointment.

Doesn't matter who manages Watford, their owners are impatient, reckless idiots.

14 managers in 9 years. The club is a circus run by clueless clowns.

clearly not clueless. Granada promoted for the first time in 30 years. Udinese have an incredible scouting system and played Champions League and stabilized Watford in the Premier League for so long

That was pre  Abramovich apart from the last season and he made them come 2nd which they hadn't reached since the 50s. To quot wiki ' Ranieri's four seasons, Chelsea improved their points total season on season. The core of the Chelsea team which won two Premier League titles under Mourinho, including John Terry, William Gallas, Wayne Bridge, Claude Makélélé and Frank Lampard were all brought to Chelsea or nurtured by Ranieri. During his final months at Chelsea, Ranieri also identified Didier Drogba, Petr Čech and Arjen Robben as players Chelsea should sign, all of whom went on to become key players at the club''

Yes, and the fact that he'd built a good squad was presumably at least a factor in Abramovic's choice to buy the club.

And sticking with Watford

They got relegated and came back up this season.

Chopping and changing managers every 5 minutes doesn't show stability to me.
