Couldn't help feeling yesterday that if you took Ashley Young and Carney Chukwuemeka out and replaced them with Marvelous Nakamba and Conor Hourihane we would have controlled the midfield and won the game.

Unpopular opinion but I think you're right. 

Young ghosted and Carney certainly did not look ready to start. 

Thought we looked a little better when nakamba came on and we moved Luiz into a more advanced role.

Europe is not my target, I think we will do exceptionally well to come close to last season.  I'd predict 14th as reasonable given the loss of Grealish, the disruption it caused, the injuries so far, and the future loss of south American players during the season.

It's the club who have set the European target, and if serious, I think we need serious reinforcements still, particularly in CM.  I think the 3 games so far have highlighted that our squad lacks the quality to achieve this goal.  Our best 11 maybe, but there's pretty much zero chance that we'll have our best 11 available all season.

I'll say it again for those who missed it: I'll be happy to achieve comfortable mid-table (14th-11th).  I think the club setting a goal of European qualification is highly optimistic, and does not align to our summer transfers to date.

Whilst we have made some decent additions, I don't agree it replaces Grealish's contribution, especially as we haven't signed a specialist LM, but it also hasn't addressed our biggest weakness (CM) and I feel has left is still light at fullback and out wide, given the aspiration of European qualification.

I love the ambition, but don't agree that the ambition matches the squad currently.

14th-11th is very non ambitious and would not show any progress, our owners have done exceptional and they will be demanding a stronger finish than 14th-11th it will be more 7th-10th that will be the acceptable finish and should be the aim.

I agree we should be looking to finish higher than last season.

But, I don't agree the squad is good enough right now to achieve it.

I saw a Brentford with grit and a physical approach that was alien to me. My answer to it, is match it, not moan about it and thats what we had to do.

I think this edge to your game will keep you up...."hard to beat" ( of course we all have to play well too) is the most important pre requisite to have in your first season back....despite our depleted team, I think you acquiited yourselves well.

However, I look forward to seeing you, when we have a full team.

 

Enjoyed the game on Sat, My first visit for a number of years, Fantastic support as usual from your supporters, I think honours were even after a fast and furious game with both teams going for it with neither side wanting to settle for the draw, I know you weren’t at full strength and you might have got a different result on another day, but we are new to the PL and still learning to cope with the faster speed and quality of the game, You have got a couple of years advantage over us so we are playing catch up, we are still a couple of players short, hopefully we might see some movement in the last day of the Transfer window today.

With all your new additions you will be more than comfortable this season, And I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you finish in the top 6, As for us, We have a long hard road ahead to stay up, as the odds are always against newly promoted teams like us, I would be over the moon if we manage 14^th-15^th place, and it won’t be for the lack of effort by TF and the team.

Looking forward to your visit to our new ground on New Years Day, It will be a festive cracker hopefully.

like I say...If you stay with "hard to beat", you have a chance, because Toney will score goals.

Frank isn't as naive as Farke.

Got a better chance staying up than Norwich but I still think they'll go down. I don't think their squad is big or strong enough to make it.

I wonder if people in here will still look on this as a good point if we lose the next 4. Which is very possible. 

IMO it was crucial to get off to a good start to get the confidence and momentum up. Especially considering the favorable opening 3 games. 

I'm concerned about the moral of the team if things go bad the next 4 games.

Leeds got Liverpool next and have  only pickup up 2 points definitely going down then

For a 17 year old on his full Premier League debut, I thought he did well. There will be plenty more to come from him, I am talking about Carney Chukwuemeka here

When he is playing for the first team I'm not judging him as a 17 year old but as any other player. 

And I thought both him and young had poor games
