My only concern with the academy now, well more of an observation, is that we seem very light on full backs at the club. Wish we'd got Small in.

Kesler on loan.

Chrisene and Patterson both injured

Zito seems very raw but there too.

Think there is some promising Fullbacks coming through. But I agree Small would've been great

I think like Livramento (who I think we were also linked with at one point), Small has been promised first team football and not sure we could offer that this season

Is Ireogbunam someone who could play first team this season do we think? Given our need for a DM...

This season? Not a chance IMO.

Would need a loan first i think to see how he copes with senior football over good few matches.

I still dont understand this trophy. So could we conceivably play in the final of it, at Wembley? I'm sure it's only ever between league one and league two teams, when I've seen the finals.

All L1 & L2 clubs + 16 invited Academies = 64 teams = 16 groups of 4 (each group has one Acad)

Each team plays other 3 once.  Acad teams always play away

Top 2 each group go through. Each group winner plays a runnerup from a different group. Academy teams are kept apart from Round 2 to SF. (Not sure how that works)

It might be called the Ham&PineapplePizza Cup - but it actually is the kid brother of the League Cup - The English Football League Trophy**. And I'd be surprised if L1/L2 teams take it lightly.

** not to be confused with the FA Trophy.

In relation to the Wycombe game, i thought one of their players, Connor Persons, looked very good.

He is 20 years old (21 in Oct) and English, he joined them this summer from Dalvik in Iceland, prior to that he was at Lowestoft and the Norwich Youth system.

Its hard to gauge a players talent from one game ofc, and he is nearly 21 so not super young, but he did look very comfortable on the ball.

Thanks Steve but I won't be adding them to the U23 list unless they appear in an U23 matchday squad (as for example Barber already has).
