Had these annoying black squiggly lines for just over a month now, had eyes checked all okay. Told its normal..

Anyone else have them? Do they ever settle down/disappear?

I think most people have them but don’t notice. They are very common.

I have them. and have done for years They don't disappear, but you kind of get used to them and most times they don't even notice.

Had them for years. It can be annoying when focused on one spot in the distance for a period of time (like watching a speaker on stage). Occassionally need to blink them away.

Most of the time, though, you don't notice them.

Exactly what @blandy wrote.

I definitely have one, possibly two but when I see it I never remember which eye it’s in so can’t say I have one in each eye or whether it’s the original eye floater. I probably first noticed it or them in my early twenties, 30 years later still there but no worse. I’ve mentioned it to opticians a couple of times but they both couldn’t have be less interested as they are perfectly normal. I don’t normally notice it but if I close my eyes whilst in bright sunshine I think ‘oh yeah there’s one, almost forgot about it.’

Nothing to be concerned about.

black squiggly line eye floaters?? Surely a made up thing!

If real, it sounds just like - EbolaAidsBlackDeathSmallpox2021 alpha variant.

Covid got bored with humans.

As @Genie said they can be very common.

Is it only in one eye or both? Have you noticed anything else? Did it come on suddenly? Has it got better/worse over the month?

I woke one morning about 10 years ago and had  lost vision in the bottom half of my right eye, I had my eyes checked, saw a multitude of doctors, all said there was nothing wrong. After a year of pestering, I finally got referred for an 'Evoked Potential' test, it turned out to be Optic Neuritis. My eyesight has partially returned although I can't read anything only using my right eye.

My advice (from experience) is if you are worried about it, push to be seen by the eye specialists at your local hospital they can do a bunch of tests to double check your eyes and optic nerves.

It is mainly in my left eye,  I have about 8-10 of various sizes that float across my field of vision. They seem to have settled somewhat and become more transparent over the past month but still noticeable when I’m outside in natural light.

I have booked an optician appointment for tomorrow just to get a second opinion. I haven’t had any other eye issues and can see perfectly fine other than the floaters.

I've had them since I can remember. Like everyone else has said, you just get used to them

I just can’t imagine at present getting used to them, they are literally all I can see when outdoors. Very frustrating.

If you’ve suddenly gone from not noticing them to seeing several, then it’s probably worth an optician appointment. Even the reassurance will gradually help your brain to ignore them.

You've probably google'd all about this, I found this link to The Cleveland Clinics website about Eye Floaters - https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/14209-floaters--flashers

I get them loads, try to look at them and they flit away.   Don't even notice them till you actively try to like when looking at the sky.

It's normal. Only worry is if you suddenly get swamped by them

There is a procedure to remove them but it’s very invasive and no doubt costly unless you can convince the NHS you need it.

I started to notice 2 or 3 over the last few months. They've been there for longer without me noticing I think. I reckon my new brighter monitors I use WFH show them up.

I chatted to an eye specialist friend and he said they're common but if it's a sudden change then to go and see the doc. I don't think mine was sudden enough. I seem to have 3 in like a triangle shape.

It shows just how much your eyes move while your vision is fixed - you look at something else and the floaters catch up a second later or the floaters are moving side to side as you're looking at something. Apparently your eyes move loads without you ever realising.
