2006 Italy wasn't a star lead team. It had the likes of Pirlo, Gattuso, Totti but it wasn't a circus designed to accommodate them like Portugal or Argentina.

Del Piero couldn't get a look in because he didn't fit the team

Forward line was Totti, Del Piero, Inzaghi with Buffon, Nesta, Pirlo, Cannavaro in support

KDB been off all game

I actually don't think so. He's been involved and created some stuff, but it's Italy in the play offs. He was never going to dominate like you've seen against Burnley.

Enormous loss for Italy that, Leonardo Spinazzola's been one of the players of the tournament and a huge part in making them so hard to defend against. He's been everywhere and still managed to handle the defensive side.

It wasn't at all. It was Toni, Totti, Perrotta, Cameronesi, Pirlo, Gattuso

Nesta barely played a minute too.

It was very much a collective. This team isn't as talented individually but its the same idea

Indeed it was a star filled team but there seems to be a collectives about these Italian players always.

Well to a degree, but that was the entire point. This Italian squad is different. It's more of a team than they've had in 30 years.

You are really not getting it. Those players were way more established stars in the football world and especially in Italy than any of these players are. Totti were a semi god at that point.

The expectations domestically were completely different.

Who is this guy

Doku

Anderlecht youth product (whoever said don't shop in Belgium...) signed for rennes last summer when they got CL for about £18m

Looks small change now, he'll get a mega move

Kana and verschaeren didn't make this squad but anderlecht had the 3 of them come through, all of them could end up at the very top
