Can anyone realistically see him signing? Even if he was keen it's going to take a massive offer for Southampton to accept and a bit like with Smith Rowe it feels like we are wasting time with the pursuit

Nope, definitely got ESR vibes again

30m seems fair for a 20 year old with 1 year left on his contract with only 20 PL appearances to his name.

Think they’d want £40m at least for Jwp but probably closer to £50m - to bid £25m is ridiculous

No it's not. If other clubs want to underbid for our players then we should underbid for others as well.

But what’s the point when you know it’s going to be rejected?

All part of the dance. Southampton might want to cash in and we’re a willing buyer. We’ve made it clear with our opening bid that we’re not going to just throw money at him. The right deal is when all parties will feel slightly hard done by but still want to go ahead with it.

I think NSWE need to land this one should Grealish Leave.

If Kane and JWP don't get past the bid stage and Grealish does - it won't look great.

Bailey, Alvarez and JWP would soften the blow.

Total bollocks still. 25m as if. I won't trust anything comes from Athletic anymore

Will you jump off a cliff if we actually sign him?  Or even have a 100% confirmed bid for that matter

A low bid to make the player know your interested. An art-form this tapping up thing. Hope it works out and we can get him for around 35M.

Yeah low bid thing , apparently shiteh are trying that with one of ours

Let’s not forget, this may not just be about value. What’s better, £40m paid in equal instalments over a 5 year period or £25m up front? The answer is, it totally depends on the position you find yourself in. Cash is a very important commodity for all businesses. We have it thanks to our owners and thus adds a different dimension.

What ?????

Hardly any transfers are paid all up front. Haven't been for years.

My point is, we have the capacity to offer very attractive payment terms. That will be of greater overall value to some teams depending on their circumstances. Our boys know what they are doing. We should trust them.
