You might not realise this but you are correct in that it started it but ITV didn't realise what they had, the BBC did. Swap Shop started as a result of TISWAS but when Swap Shop started TISWAS was still an ATV only programme.

Do you remember the adult nighttime version called OTT? The whole show was based around a buxom  black girl showing her nipples and one of acts I remember was somebody called Mr mangetout Basically he did an act giving the illusion he was eating his own brain with a spoon. Made your head go all funny

For somewhere else to discuss possibly but growing up watching kids TV and advertising has made me remember toys in cereal. You couldn’t beat the excitement of a new box of cereal with a hidden toy. Always hiding at the bottom of the box though and remember tipping out the cereal all over the kitchen table.

Another one that's happened to me in the last week!

There's some euro 2021 tat for free with kellogs but to get it you need the code inside the box, register your email address and then they send you something

Where's the fun in that?

The best things I remember getting from a cereal box:

  • a Captain Ric wobbly pen and stickers from a box of Ricicles (RIP 😭) :

1988 Wobbler Pen1987 Space Stickers issued with Kelloggs Ricicles

  • those small, interlocking coloured pencils from I think packets of Weetos.  Countless hours building guns or spaceships.
  • the lenticular Euro 96 "vids" from assorted Kellogg's boxes:

1996 Euro 96 Virtual Video issued in Kelloggs Coco Pops

  • cardboard Crystal Maze puzzles from boxes of Sugar Puffs:

1992 Crystal Maze Pocket Puzzle & Keyring

Reminiscing about this has just led me down an eBay rabbit hole to discover people are selling unopened packets of Ricicles for up to £100.  What a world we live in.

That's a great selection and all that but none of those are a monster in your pocket

Star Wars tazos, how great were they?  They were amazing.

As well as those already mentioned, I’ll add The Clangers, Daktari, The Double Deckers and Why Don’t You.....

Almost forgot Tony Hart and Animal Magic with Jonny Morris.

The 70’s had some fantastic kids tv programmes 👍

I was trying to remember where Alberto The Frog came from a minute ago, because it wasn't a stand alone show.

The choice of milkshake was legendary. Some of those kids TV creators must have been so far off their tits.

Imagine the planning meeting where they pitched the idea that every week the only reward he would want would be a milkshake, and a bunch of animals would each try to guess the flavour whilst we all waited with bated breath for him to announce which one.
