No way will Arsenal out bid us. It will come down to where he thinks he will be best suited. Arsenal are still a big draw for sure but we can compete now. I would say 60:40 in their favour. All to play for.

If Arsenal really want him, then we would stand no real chance.    Arsenal could, if they really wanted to, easily offer £100k+ wages and I doubt we could match that.

The only hope is that Arsenal want him cheaply or aren’t that bothered and have other targets which are priority.

Arsenal need to sell to buy, we don’t. Unless he has his heart set on Arsenal, which I can’t imagine many players have atm, we have a real chance of getting him.

We can match any fee/wages Arsenal offer, they just have a better stadium.

At least we know ol’ safehands has been in his ear. Emi knew what he was doing putting up that image ;)

This could well be a huge factor. Emi isn't going to bad mouth arsenal, but he will definitely be talking up villa and just him being here could be a big enough pull.  Game on

If Arsenal want him and he's their first choice then it's almost inevitable that he will join them; they're a team that hasn't finished outside the top eight of the premier league since 1995, these last two seasons are the first time they've finished outside the top six since then and by their standards eighth is considered poor, people on here are celebrating because we finished eleventh, they're also a team that has won the FA Cup four times out of the last eight seasons.

You ask most neutrals, who's likely to be the more succesful club Villa or Arsenal over the coming years, even if they allow for the fact that Villa are a club on the rise, pretty much all would say Arsenal.

Sad but definitely true.
