Jareth Posted May 21, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted May 21, 2021 Think this will be a fun entertaining game - Chelsea have to win it and will come at us, and we will be relaxed and enjoying the atmos and I can see Jack being right at it. I'm going 4-4.

Absolute dead-rubber game for us, and Chelsea need the win so not expecting much. Would like to see a good half hour for Philogene-Bidace since he's not involved in the youth cup. Absolutely, we are so much better fans. It's been a team of progression and the team need our support. UTV
Popular Post John
We welcome the football club that were formerly nicknamed "The Pensioners", that for some inexplicable reason then chose to become "The Blues" (what club in their right mind, would actually choose to use that nickname?) to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon. The club will also welcome back some lucky fans to watch the game in person. It's been a long time hasn't it? Our visitors need a win to guarantee Champions League qualification for next season, so will be well up for this one. We have already secured 11th place ourselves and have regained our status as the top club in the West Midlands, don't you just love to see a gap Wolves? We have already got 17 more points on the board than we achieved last season and although had it not been for a recent run of poor results, we would have expected to have achieved a higher points tally, it does still remain progress. Our current 52 points is already our best PL total since season 2009/10, when we finished sixth with 12 points more. Chelsea would no doubt have wanted to play something other than their best team against us on Sunday, with the trifling matter of a Champions League Final to be played the following Sunday. Cup Finals can sometimes be unpredictable and favourites do not always lift the trophy as they found themselves last weekend, but they will start as underdogs next weekend, so they cannot risk playing anything other than their best starting line up against us on Sunday. We last beat Chelsea at Villa Park in 2014 and they have won on each of their three subsequent visits. Overall, we have won 51 and have drawn 33 of the 141 league games that there have been between the two clubs. The visitors will be nervy before this game and we will have fans from Leicester as well as a few from Liverpool, wishing us well on the day. Avoiding defeat would be nice and a win would be even better, but lets play well throughout the match Villa and make the visitors know that win, lose or draw they have had to fight for anything that they might leave Villa Park with, on the last day of this season.

Paddywhack
I'm going to try and not let it ruin my day out, but it'll piss me off if a few mouth breathers around me boo the players taking the knee. In a lighter thought, I've spent lockdown picking up old Villa shirts on ebay, so I'll have fun picking which one I'm going to wear for the return. Same team that started Spurs for me, it had good balance.

TheMelvillan
Think I'm right in saying that another clean sheet would break our record. Would love that. This defence and GK deserve it

romavillan Posted May 21, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted May 21, 2021 Beating the super league teams has been a feature of our season so far, incredibly satisfying to nearly eliminate the spuds from europe would be very nice to reduce Chelsea's chances to lifting the champions league trophy as well. One For The Road
"They will be lively again at Stamford Bridge, especially with Jack Grealish getting more and more minutes under his belt, but I thought Chelsea won comfortably against Leicester on Tuesday and I'd expect them to get the job done here too. Lawro's prediction: 0-2" Stamford Bridge? Anyone think maybe Lawro knows bugger all about what he talking about?
