Have Martinez MotM for a few clutch saves

Yeah, for all we played very well for most of the game Martinez actually won us the points with a number of superb saves.

He got my vote too.

A tight-knit dressing room with the talent to back it up, playing for a manager who continues to develop and evolve, with very rich owners and many promising youth to blend into the first team. We will continue to improve and surprise teams next season. Such an exciting time.

Smith out.

One trick pony, he's been found out. We were rubbish again, making the same mistakes we have been doing for 3 years. Never looked like we'd score, easy win for them as predicted hopefully the board will see sense and do their best to get Allardyce or someone who can get this lot to fight for it. Just weak and pathetic yet again.

Typical Villa! 😀

A very good team performance and we should have won at a canter. Ollie, AEG & Traore all wasteful.

How funny it was to hear the Spurs fans booing at the end of both halves.

Also how frustrating to have thrown away those points at Palace but if we were going to choose one to win in London, then definitely Spurs for me! Ends one of those annoying runs that they keep droning on about.

Was delighted for Marvelous. He is not Kante but he definitely adds something when he plays. McGinn also seemed to benefit from someone who does play that anchor role well.

How it was not a penalty on Ollie is beyond me, especially when you think of the marginal one Harry got at Villa Park. ESL rules again😀

Really looking forward to Sunday at Villa Park and signing off a good season in front of the fans.

Onwards.

ps. Was Deano taking the pee out of spuds when he threw on two youths earlier than felt comfortable?

Superb team performance tonight, McGinn was immense. Great to see Jack get 70 minutes also great to see a coouple of youngsters come on and see the game out.

Should have scored a few more but I will certainly take that win and performance.

To be fair all of the team were on it tonight.

  • Jack still doesn't look 100% fit but was still a class act, it was a joy to watch him start a match again and we looked so much better when he was on the pitch.
  • McGinn also was brilliant tonight, that lovely turn on the hour mark was classic McGinn but his all round game was good today.
  • Nakamba was at fault for the goal but otherwise put in a great performance, made some key tackles and interceptions and also got the assist for the OG. Would keep him in for Chelsea.
  • Traore was typical, moments of great skill then very poor decision making (why didn't he just hit that shot with his left when he was clean through?), but he did do well for our 2nd goal
  • Watkins pressed really well and was an obvious threat and got a goal, but again his decision making was poor at times in front of goal and he should have finished off more of his chances
  • Martinez bailed us out with 2 big saves from Kane and Bergwijn - his time wasting at the end also riled the crowd which was good to see (Spurs fans are knobs)
  • Mings was really good at the back, as was Konsa and Targett. Hause did what he needed to and was solid
  • AEG took up good positions but again his decision making was poor and he should have got at least one goal

Overall though a really good performance and great to see two Academy players get on. Hopefully another really good performance on Sunday in front of the fans.

Fantastic to a man.

So excited to see the development of our talented youngsters, credit to them for not being overawed by the occasion.

Anybody who says mcginn offers nothing is a complete and utter moron.

Penalty decision the worst all season.

If only we were more clinical it could have been a liverpoolesque rout

Carney and Jaden both looked comfortable and more than able. They were keen to get on the ball and ran well. Really encouraging, and if Carney’s shot had gone in we would’ve all lost our shit!
