Of those games we have drawn 7 and have lost 14. I'm long enough in the tooth to remember quite a few league wins against Newton Heath and them arriving at B6, without seeing the result as a virtual gimme. It is high time that we beat them again and put an end to our appalling home record against them! Solskjaer has moaned about facing 4 games in 8 days. He has said that his team selections "might leave someone unhappy" and "that might affect whoever gets into the fourth position or the Champions League. That’s not my problem. That’s everyone else’s problem.” It is clear that the integrity of the PL is as important to him, as it is to the owner's of the club that he manages, who were themselves determined to join a so called "Super League" only a few days ago! Let him rotate his squad, it is big enough to do so after all. If it contributes to them losing this, the first of those four fixtures, then it will not leave me unhappy! A win would take us back into the top half, it would be unlikely to have any impact on the visitors league position, particularly as Leicester are showing signs of blowing up again in the run-in. It would be terrific to crack the hooddo that they hold over us at Villa Park, during the same season that we did this to Liverpool in such style. Overall, we have won 43 and have drawn 39 of the 169 league games, that have been played between the two clubs. We have an awful lot of ground to make up, so let us start to do that tomorrow. We have had some great cup wins against our visitors in the past. Those wins include beating the Busby Babes in 1957, beating them in the 1971 LCSF and denying Fergie a treble in the 1994 LCF. Villa league victories have included a 3-1 home win in 1985, which led led Alan Hansen's to say that "you can't win anything with kids" and more recently a win at Old Trafford in 2009. It's much worse on twitter and they obviously report (or are brought to the attention of) when people are using racist language and other abuse v them. This fixture does play on the mind though. Think to past VP games when we've been 2 up against these and yet the crowd and players are far more nervous than at 0-0 or 2-0 v any other opposition and we start miskicking clearances and dropping deep and inevitably concede. It was literally impossible for us to win that game. They were far and away the best team in the country at the time, literally everyone thought the treble was a mere formality. We had somewhat stuttered into the final. We had no way to win that game yet win it we did. The Devil has been taking my soul piece by piece everytime we play them since. As a 63 year I have seen us beat Manure several times and also seen some poor and awesome managers, but the when results are not going well, I wonder if Deano is capable of changing it. But I do not believe I am an attention seeking troll c__t.
