Season Tickets 2021/2

I think somewhere in the T&Cs it says you shouldn't lend it to someone...but just give it to your pal for the match and nothing will happen.

Unless its an adult trying to get in with a kid's ticket they won't be able to see they're not the original owner.

Anyone know how I'd officially pass my ticket onto a friend? They have a Fan ID. Unless I just hand it over, it's not like they have any photo ID to go against.

See above, my friend did it yesterday and they helped straight away

call ticket office, they will issue your mate an e ticket so he doesn't need to use your card

or just give him the bloody card...as others have said, if they made it easier, more would do it officially

How does this stop me selling my ticket to somebody, then getting in touch with the ticket office, saying I can't go so my mate going instead and getting them to issue an e-ticket.

I'm not sure what they are achieving by doing this, only that I don't have to hand my season ticket over to anybody.

I'm not sure if this might be about the value of data - that for the club, the point is being able to tell the people who deal in data exactly who is attending games.

As @markc says, there's nothing in this that would stop me charging someone £100 for my ticket, then phoning up the ticket office to get it changed into that person's name for a game - in so far as I can see, it does nothing to actually stop touting of tickets, it just adds a layer so that the club knows who the attendee was.

It's a strange thing - the club seem much less interested in your seat - the actual value of the matchday experience - than they they are about your Fan ID; your data identity. Once you've paid for the seat, you can hand it over to your brother for a matchday, as long as you also hand over your brothers identity to Villa, so they know who he is.

I'm not in any way an expert on how data is used, processed or sold, but in so far as I can see, the club here are working really hard to collect the identities of everyone that attends Villa Park - and the only real benefit I can think of is that they can somehow profit from that information as saleable data.

So, yeah, there you go Villa, a scheme so poorly communicated that the best reason I can think of for it existing is a tinfoil hat data harvesting thing.

Is Deano right in that we have a 18,000 season ticket waiting list? That is on top of the current 30K season ticket holders.

We were probably close to 18 thousand season tickets in total in the Championship days. The spike has been incredible. Is that the premier league factor? New ownership/better brand of football post Bruce? Or demographic change with Birmingham growing in population?

i'd probably halve that number at least of who would take up a season ticket if it was offered. got mates on that list that still don't know if they will if/when they get the chance. PL definitely a factor, new ownership, people have been in lockdown so they're a) keen to get back out to games again and b) have cash on the hip

the football and general atmosphere is better too. going to games is just all round better than its been for years. even in the MON days we didn't sell out that often

Yes but why? We still haven't got anywhere near 6th post MON and even then people were moaning. Is the football better? I remember we ended up drawing far too many games at home under O'Neill, they often saved the best performances away from home. The match day experience has hardly changed in 10 years has it, apart from a few more local boozers closing down.

Maybe having got relegated we are appreciating just being in the premier league now whereas it was seen as  given pre 2016.

this is absolutely nail on head. and having come so close to going down in the first season has made us appreciate it even more.

there must be other factors too, under MON i think the country was still recovering from the recession so funds were tight...but i do think we took the PL for granted. i remember going to blackburn away and there was only about 800 of us in the away end. going back further to the second GT regime i was able to get away tickets on general sale. now even if you have a season ticket your chances of an away ticket are slim

The last time I had a season ticket was the MON days. We were a brilliant, exciting, clinical counter attacking team... away from home.

At home it was generally **** dreadful.

I suppose as a 'brand' the premier league has got even bigger since 2010 and is such a big draw to floating/casual fans. Plus we are the only top flight team in the city I suppose. We always had about 30,000  hard core who would turn up for virtually any game plus another 5-10 k for the big matches but I think these numbers have moved on a bit.

I don't think it's about commercialisation, it's about crowd safety and policing.  Knowing who's attending games allows the club and police to maintain crowd standards and take action against those who fall below those standards.

Being able to use etickets is also really useful for me. Most of my villa supporting friends now live in other parts of the country and this saves the logistical headache of handing over a card.

That’s one explanation. Another would be more benign. Knowing who wants to go to games, but can’t unless a friend/fambly member lends them their sticket. They can see if these people are on the waiting list, are they members, can the club market opportunities to go to games to them, can they sell them stuff…

So that might be another reason?

Has anyone been able to sell their season ticket for any games back to the club. I’ve been sat at the laptop with my account details open for the best part of 45 mins and am still clueless. I’m a bit of a techno phobe…but nothing is jumping out to me. Can’t make the man c mid week match and want to make sure someone else has a chance of taking the seats. The club letter threatening all manner of punishments has put me off just giving it to someone else but they’re not making it easy for me! Any ideas much appreciated!

I think you can only do it once the game sells out. I'll look it up and feed back.

I couldn't make the Brighton game so contacted the club who registered my tickets with some friends. I had to give their fan IDs and then they emailed me etickets in my friends name.

All facilitated through the club so you can 100% do it.
