Please spare a thought for all that cheap Chinese tat on the boat that can't be delivered to European shops.

£10bn worth of cheap tat!

There is something to be said about the news interviewing small businesses and the like about the orders they've got problems with, we make absolutely nothing anymore

And no doubt any perishables that will expire before they reach Europe will therefore be redistributed across Africa where they're needed rather than just sit and rot before being thrown out and then argued about in court by the lawyers...

There's little wrong with outsourcing low-skilled manufacturing jobs outside the country, as long as you maintain solid traiding relationships that enable you to reap the benefits of cheaper countries providing those goods so your population can upskill elsewhere. Just two minor drawbacks with the UK approach leap to mind.

You're right, we make nothing. It was the same when they were interviewing small businesses about the increasing costs of containers from China. They'd quadrupled in price. One business sold fancy light fittings/lamps, which were made in Guangzhou and then sold at huge margins in the UK to gullible customers. By being that reliant on China, any change to to the norm had a huge impact.

Ship is free now apparently.

No, they've moved the stern but front it still grounded.  You would think it fairly simple to drag it backwards now, but apparently not.  Trying to free it again at 09.30 gmt.

I imagine the fact that the ship is absolutely **** gigantic complicates matters slightly
