MaVilla
Personally i like the 4231, but we should also be able to play t33. In terms of a "different formation", i also like the look of the 3421/3412, i also think we should have that one under our hat maybe......
sne
OK so with Grealish going and Ings, Buendia and Bailey coming in how do we form our team. Certain there will be more changes but atm I've no idea how we line up.

Two holding midfielders (e.g. Doug and McGinn), two wide men (Buendia and Bailey), and two up top (Watkins and Ings). It's possible.
Kuwabatake Sanjuro
I think the main thing is that Dean Smith has to start embracing squad rotation more this season. The likes of Cash, Targett and McGinn don't need to play every minute of the season, same goes for Ollie Watkins regardless of how fit he is. We have the squad now where there won't be a massive drop off in quality when changes are made.
VillaAlex
Watkins Bailey Ings Buendia Or maybe Watkins Ings Buendia Bailey

Maybe, doesn't really suit the central midfielders currently at the club but as good as a guess as any. Really did not think we would sign such a high profile, high fee striker. Considering the money we've spent on them I can't see any of the new guys Buendia, Ings and Bailey being signed as bench players and I certainly don't see us moving Watkins there so I'm stumped. Having all of them on the pitch with any CM combination of Luiz, McGinn, Sanson, Ramsey looks really weak defensively even thou Buendia, Watkins and Ings are all good defensively. Nakamba can do a job but he's not someone I want starting games for us. Signing JWP would not solve this either.
theboyangel
Mings should be the new captain and McGinn vice captain

I know Mings..I mean Ings is probably considered for the 10 role but I'm not a fan of that system. Much prefer how Liverpool plays with 2 hard working box to box midfielders and a DM

tonyh29
Quite like this gives us McGinn , Ramsey , El Ghazi , and Traore to interchange in positions and that’s before we spend the rest of the Jack money

a m ole
I really think we’ll see a lot more of Sanson to balance the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations, in a flat 3 and in the advanced midfielder position.

However, based on current players, this is prob what i would go for: Martinez Cash - Konsa - Mings - Targett Luiz - McGinn/Sanson Bailey - Buendia - Watkins Ings Buendia, Watkins and Ings work their asses off......will be a big change to last season in that sense. No idea if bailey is a hard worker Edited August 4, 2021 by MaVilla
villalad21
Think Smith will line up like this. .................Martinez............. Cash..Konsa..Mings....Targett ............McGinn....Luiz............. Buendia........Ings...........Bailey ......................Watkins................. Seriously stacked with quality in here. Be interesting to see how Ings turns out in a 10/false 9 position Edited August 4, 2021 by villalad21
