Once that 100 mil lands we are going to be linked with everybody.

Pains me to say it but in the current market 100M doesn’t get you too much (2 x Ben White), unless we shop in Aldi, I mean France.

I really like JWP. Then Bailey, then Alvarez. And a really good DM who's goodish on the ball

We’d be in good shape with those additions.

JG’s style of play often slows down attacks in the final third, giving the opposition time to get numbers back and reset.

With Buendia picking passes from the middle (his through balls at Walsall were exquisite) having fast and direct wingers makes us more dangerous on the break, forcing teams to defend deeper and commit fewer men forward.

That takes some pressure off midfield, reduces overloads against us and means we have more options than Watkins in terms of raw pace running the channels.

We’d end the window stronger as team than we started it, the definition of progress.

Am I the only one that believes 100m for Jack isn't enough. To me he is a world class player of the rarest kind. Up there in the top 10 players in the world today.

He should be going for AT LEAST 150m. He is absolutely irreplaceable, any team in the world would miss him if he left.

The idea we can replace him with Cantwell and Bailey is ridiculous! I really like Buendia, but from preseason so far he isn't at Jack's level. Sure we may improve on last seasons league position. But with Jack and another couple of good signings top 6 is a realistic aim, without him, no chance!

I'm really disappointed with the negotiators at the club as they're basically accepting the first bid! Can't they at least play hardball for a bit?

We wouldn’t be looking to replace Jack with that ‘one’ player because he is unique. What we would be doing is looking to buy 3 or 4 players in varying positions, which would ‘hopefully’ improve the team.

It’s a gamble for sure but what can we do if he wants to go? I for one don’t want another ‘Yorke’ situation. No good for the squad if he hangs around sulking.

Sarr, Cantwell, JWP wouldn’t be the end of the world. Would love Bissouma to be in our thinking though.

Bissouma won’t want to come I don’t think. He’d also cost about 60m.

Closest player to Jack statistically according to fbref... Adnan Januzaj. What a mindf*ck that would be.

Could he play for our under 23s for a while?

I’m not sure where we’re going to set up this season. The ESR chase would imply we want a new No10, but that would imply Buendia our wide right. I thought Bailey played predominantly on the right so confused if he’s the Grealish replacement.

If the plan was ESR at No10, Grealish left and Buendia right the links to Bailey and more recently Sarr are a bit weird.

Supposedly the offers for Bailey and Ward-Prowse were made with the assumption that Grealish stays, so it will be disappointing if we don’t invest another £150m this summer if Grealish is sold. Would take our net spend to £85m, which is reasonable.

Anytime someone starts a sentence with "Am I the only one" followed by his opinion he is never actually the only one who has that opinion. Usually, its actually a rather common opinion.

Cantwell is Can't well! He is average, he can't help propel us into Europe. JWP is a freekick specialist who won't get many freekicks in dangerous positions without Jack. Sarr is 18 with only half a season behind him in France. How can that combined replace Jack Grealish. For a club like Villa, replacing Jack with one player is impossible. If we were Man City and Jack left us we would need to spend 150 to 200 million to buy Mbappe or Neymar.  To replace Jack with 3 or 4 players it's still extremely difficult. We would need to get Bailey, Alvarez and Bissouma, Locatelli, and ESR!

Maybe you're right, but I felt I was the only one! I'm hoping to find out I'm not! Which I have. I guess I was just in the wrong thread!

Wow, Januzaj been posting some high chance creation stats with Real Sociedad for the past couple of seasons. Wonder why he doesn't play more for them.

Welcome camavinga!!

But seriously we should start with kamara then look at Doku, badiashile, caqueret, tchouameni, this faivre that leverkusen are being linked with using the Bailey money on, gouiri, cherki

Plenty of decent prospects in ligue 1 still, they've got depth is just about every position too

@Philosopher totally agree, IMO JWP == Younger Hourihane.

I like JWP he can play the DLP role far better than Hourihane, as JWP is an excellent presser and very tenacious. But technique wise yes and younger version of Hourihane. Similar level of passing and creativity, Connor a better finisher, JWP slightly more consistent on free kicks. Physically, both are on the slow and weak side, but the tenacity JWP has means he goes full blooded in the challenges, whereas Hourihane is no better than a training cone!
