I personally don’t see the obsession of bringing in another CM/DCM ahead of either back up ST or CB.

Now depending who we play as AM, we have two CM slots up for grabs and we have SJM, Luiz, Sansom, Nakamba and Ramsey.

So unless SJM gets pushed up into AM or Ramsey goes out on loan we have 5 CMs fighting for two spots.

But even if we do get another one in I wouldn’t spend silly money. Berg, Sarr or even Will Hughes.

I know we’ve been linked to JWP - and I think he’s be great - but I wouldn’t want to see that transfer as spending Jack’s transfer fee.

See, me going on about Tammy doesn’t seem so bad now with have dubious links to Winks and Cantwell.

Grass isn’t always greener my friends,

you reap what you sow,

Hindsight is a beautiful thing

cant think of anymore 😂

We're even less likely to sign them then we are Tammy. All of those links (including Tammy) are just lazy journalism.

Everytime I see winks I think nice passing range, but $hit at everything else. And press him hard and he starts miss placing passes.

As for Cantwell I just think his technique is sloppy, he tries to do shit Jack does, but lacks the quality. He will at best be a midtable player.

I just dont think Harry Winks is up to our squads level. Maybe I havent seen him play enough? Imho he would be lower in the pecking order than Luis/McGinn/Nakamba  (& maybe Sansom).

Feels pricey for a Conor replacement.

Actually think Cantwell has a ton of potential, but a little strange if we buy Buendia AND him.

Winks strikes me as someone who needs a move and he will then either flourish or vanish without trace. I imagine that will end up being to someone like West Ham.

Think Cantwell is just a rumour to push along the Smith Rowe transfer.

Interesting that winks has been linked to athletico Madrid yet is no better than Westwood in some peoples ways … hmm it’s almost like we do not appreciate the technically gifted playmakers as much as the Spanish, Italians and French.

I mean he is not a player I overly covet nor do I feel we currently need but to call him shit is a bit OTT.

We already have loads of those 8 types though.

Sanson played there for Marseille, McGinn can obviously play there, Doug plays there for Brazil and Ramsay can also play there.

I'm actually really surprised we didn't offer Ramsay to Norwich on season long loan as part of the Buendia as don't really see where he fits in next season with all these links. Norwich signing Billy Gilmour this week.

If we're going big on a midfielder it needs to be either top class DM who can read play well enough, pass well enough and offer a big physical presence, Nakamba can do that on occasions but not really sure he's capable of doing it 30 times a season otherwise he'd be starting every week for DS.

Or sign a fantastic attacking midfielder like the one Jas keeps suggesting.

Winks just feels more of the same of what we currently have in midfielder rather than a real difference maker in the trio.

Seen a few saying we're trying to model Liverpool by just playing three similar types in central midfield....big difference there is their front 3 tends to chip in with 50-60 goals a season so we'd be needing 20 + from Ollie and at least 15 from Jack or other wide players.

I think I agree up to a point. His potential is much higher, however Ravel Morrision was so much better than Paul Pogba at 16. Don't get me wrong I think Carney is exceptional, but he's just a kid,

It's a bit like England in the Euros  we should make and be favourites because Belgium Spain and Italy have to play each other, but we will still have to play one of them

Chukwuemeka is completely different style of player to Winks, much more attack minded and creative. Of our youngsters in terms of style Winks is closer to Lindley.

Carney is 10x better now. I'm not even joking either.

Carney is tall, athletic, and has excellent technique. As he fills out and get stronger and if he works hard on his fitness and gain experience he will go from strength to strength.

Massive talent, just needs to make sure he works hard enough to do his talent justice. The greater the talent the more work is needed to develop it. Literally anything can happen with him. He could be a better version of Bellingham, or end up like the Moore brothers.

Exactly, if we get a new midfielder it has to be someone with a point of difference, that’s why I like Ward-Prowse because getting a dead ball specialist is going to make us more dangerous.
