Interesting who we move for next. I feel like Deano is content with our midfield but if the right player was available we'd go for them. I really want an upgrade on Nakamba for the option to play a single holding player who can set the tempo with Luiz/McGinn/Sanson further forward.

I think we all do.

Hopefully Buendia will help, but we still seem to struggle when teams are dominating us. We haven’t got that player in the middle to just calm it down and wrestle back momentum. Palace away being a great example of this.

Saint - Maximin is too expensive for what would amount to half a season. My brother who's a Geordie fan says he's too lazy defending. However he goes past defenders with ease. He will cost £75m +.

Never gonna happen.

If the price is more reasonable for Sander Berge (25-30m) I'd love us to sign him and then a couple of nice finds in Centre Forward and Left Back to add competition. That for me would be a fantastic window.

This Grealish / Kane love in has got me thinking.......

                           Kane

Watkins.          Grealish.          Buendia

                McGinn.       Luiz

Targett.      Mings.    Konsa.     Cash

                         Martinez

Honestly think the money is there if Kane would come

Let's not be as deluded as the arsenal fans now.

Smith doesn't like a single holding player. He used Whelan because he had to and Nakamba vs certain opponents last season. I'll post it again Nakamba 6 full games Draw vs Brighton. Wins vs Newcastle Leeds Arsenal Spurs Chelsea

Think having both Jack and Buendia on the pitch will help with maintaining possession, which will help reduce this.

Someone talk to me about Bissouma. Is the that good? I’ve not seen enough of him to understand the hype, in him being worth more than 3 or 4 times what we paid for Nakamba or Luiz.

I saw transfer rumour about Liverpool paying 50 million for him and Arsenal interested. He did tweet looks like fancy boy that the attention has gone to his head. Not sure he's right for us or would be even interested. Just my impression

Buendia is our right winger and will compete with Traore. Jack is our LW unless he moves inside. El Ghazi, Barry and JPB can back up both wings. We now need a CAM until Chukwuemeka becomes the Prince of CAMS in a year or so.

Bissouma is good, but I'd rather a specialist CDM. I know Bissouma can play there but he's mainly a tidy physical CM. We have plenty of CMs already.

I'm not convinced we'll sign a central midfielder this summer. With the talk coming from the club, the progress of Chuck, recent signing of Sanson I highly doubt it. Unless one of them is sold. Not saying that's the right choice but I can see that thinking.

We will definitely sign two attacking players. One of them, at least, someone who can play one of the wide positions and in the AM role (Buendia? or that Uruguayan chap). Depending on how much confidence Dean and the coaching staff have in the ability of Wesley and Davis we might sign a back up striker.

Then we need a back up left back, someone young and upcoming. We also need a a fourth centre back. Sounds like Engels is finished here, Hause has done very well when called up on so we really need a right footed centre back and I think that will also be someone younger.

Possibly a back up keeper if Steer is not deemed good enough but I don't see any acute need for one.

So all in all I think we'll at least see 3-4 players coming in, absolute max six.

So much sense condensed into one post..... what are you playing at?

I've seen Arsenal linked with him but we've just found out we can compete with them. I've seen Liverpool linked but I'm not convinced they've a lot to spend this summer so we would stand a chance.

And if he goes there you would think he'd sit behind Fabinho, who has probably been their best player over the last season, in the DCM position?

I don’t know much about him either. However I don’t think you can assess players in terms of value against other players. It’s that extra one or two percent that lifts a player from being very good to being excellent or excellent to exceptional.

That’s the challenge for our recruitment now and what you pay the extra money for. A player may be the difference between winning a few games instead of drawing them. Those extra points could be the difference in CL football or not or putting a trophy in the cabinet. How do you value that?

Probably where we differ a bit Trent, I don't expect Freddy to come back at all. We'll sell him to a french club for a few million euros I think seeing as his loan spell went o.k.

Will sign a CB who can fill in at RB I bet.

You might be right - re selling Guilbert - although I would bring him back for a season whilst Kessler gets some experience out on loan and we see if he can step up to the first team back up.

I do not think we will sign a CB who can play right back (I hope we don't) - I think we need 8 first team defenders (2 RB, 4 CB and 2 LB).

From what I've seen he's not the DCM anchor man, destroyer that some seen to hope he is, but he's a very good CM/DM (he's also only 4 cm taller than Douglas Luiz :D) I'd say he's a slightly more physical version of Luiz, slightly taller, stronger and faster. Be delighted to have him here but I don't think he would transform how we play or offer something completely different.

If we want the DCM to change our style I'd go for Aurélien Tchouaméni at Monaco or Boubakary Soumaré at Lille (but that ship has sadly sailed)

And on that note has Denis Zakaria moved anywhere yet? Now there is someone who'd fit the bill. Only 1 year left on his contract at Mönchengladbach who are in a bit of a rebuild mode.

He's scored 1 less goal and 4 more assists in 2 seasons and 1000 more minutes than Traore in debut season in a new team. Classic overpaid Newcastle player

Hard to get good stats playing Bruceball. Football is not all about stats. He's a top quality player.

I don't think we will be looking abroad this window.

I saw an article that seemed fairly knowledgeable and sensible that said we were looking for value in Ligue 1.  I could see a surprise transfer from overseas - as with BT last year.  I am personally glad that we are sticking to the Championship/PL - I think this is sensible as players can hit the ground running/don't need an adjustment period (to the country), but also makes more sense given the current travel restrictions.
