What are you going to do with it when he goes to Man City?

Hopefully get a ticket to the away end and watch him score the winner, been a long time since we got 3 points there ;)

Nah. Maybe he's right footed and used to be, but got pushed to the other side to accommodate Hayden too. This season I watched quite a bit of u23s and he was always on the left.

OK, I'd just seen his interview for Grimsby where he says he's a Right back who can also play CH, that's all

If that's what he's said I'd definitely take his word over mine!

There doesn't appear to be details on his stronger foot online so I'm just making assumptions based on where we I thought we played him last season. I'm now doubting myself and thinking maybe he did play RB as well.

Seb Revan is a left-back and has played in central defence on a few occasions, as far as I'm aware he's never played right-back if he's said that that's his position it will have been a slip of the tongue.

Others can play there but he's actually the only specialist left-back in the whole of the academy, that we've let him go makes me wonder more if there's any truth to the Thierry Small rumours.

Semi-relevant as they're players that have been suggested in here previous, but Palace are trucking along quite nicely this window in terms of freshening things up. Olise, Guehi and have just announced Andersen as well as being in for midfielders apparently.

Certainly would have been happy with Olise and either of Guehi or Andersen.

It's very needed, a lot of their best players are in the twilight of their careers.

It will be interesting to see how it works for them. I could see them having a pretty good season, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Viera pushes out a lot of the old guard and they end up going down with some half decent players that don't have time to blend like we did. On more points though as their squad is way better than ours was at the time.

Possibly. I’m not sure all of our signings will be £30m+ though.

Olise would have been a good option as a squad player.

Signing a decent squad player for cheap instead of forking over 40m pounds for one? What are you crazy?

None of those players would get into our starting 11 right now, may turn out to be great for palace but we're buying at a level or 2 above that. I'd expect we're going after top proven players and those signings take time, particularly with a lot of top players still on holiday til next week.

Anyone have any idea how much we can realistically spend this summer ffp wise if we keep Grealish? Say we’ve spent 33 on Buendia and hopefully, fingers crossed, 35 on Bailey. I’m hoping for a new midfielder of similar quality but not many clubs seem to be spending that much so not sure if we need to go cheaper or make do.

@Czarnikjak seemed to be doing some good work in the FFP thread that made some implications about "possible spend" if we didnt sell anyone.

Was i correct in reading that we probably have another 30m ish to spend Czarn? (i assume thats 30m cash - so we could do 30m cash + 10m (for example) over X years, as its not counted in this yrs FFP etc?)

Thank you @MaVilla I’ve just found that thread. I just found this which I think answers my question. I think (s)he’s basically saying we can afford Bailey on top of Buendia and Young and still possibly a further  £20 mil player but only if we sell one or two squad players. Not quite as good news as I wanted but actually shows that we’re not just ‘spending the Grealish money’ we do appear to be spending within our means, but unfortunately aren’t going to be splashing the cash wildly if we manage to keep JG. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, numbers aren’t my strong point!

That still leaves us about £10m spare (without any more outgoings and no major revenue increase), which basically allows you £30m player on £80k wage (£30m amortised over 5 years = £6m plus £4m wages),  Bailey for example.

However if you look closely, our 17/18 season will drop off from the calculations next year, and as it was a particulary bad year, it gives us another £10m or so to play with this summer.

Selling Hourihane for example for £5m, frees up another £7m (£5m profit on the sale as he has hardly any value left on our books and £2m wages). That allows you a £20m player on £60k wage.

So overall, it's not looking too bad, assuming we didn't go over last year.

the quote didn’t work, I’ll try again:

cool, so basically, with zero player sales, we can:

1) Afford 30m for a player (Bailey or similar), with an available salary of circa 80k.

2) We will then have roughly 10m to spare?

3) Any players sales can be added to the total(s)

4) so if we maxed out expenditure this summer, without any sales, we can expect to spend no more than 73m ish (33m - Buendia, 30m - Bailey (or similar), 10m - other) ?

Is that a fair assessment?
