We're bidding for Smith Rowe probably won't get him but that's come from reliable sources so seems very likely we're trying to sign a replacement for Barkley, and John Percy also has said we want a DM and it's probably going to be a tough tackling DM given that he said we like Romeu.

So seems very probable that we want an attacking midfielder and DM to help protect the back four, just a case of waiting to see who now, wouldn't be surprised if in both cases it ends up being a player that hasn't even been talked about yet.

We will certainly bring in a CB too

I was just talking in terms of the midfield, I think we could potentially sign any of a goalkeeper, left back, defender, DCM, CAM, Striker, and possibly another winger, but wouldn't be surprised if the striker we sign is one that can also play wide.

We already have loads of those 8 types though.

Sanson played there for Marseille, McGinn can obviously play there, Doug plays there for Brazil and Ramsay can also play there.

I'm actually really surprised we didn't offer Ramsay to Norwich on season long loan as part of the Buendia as don't really see where he fits in next season with all these links. Norwich signing Billy Gilmour this week.

If we're going big on a midfielder it needs to be either top class DM who can read play well enough, pass well enough and offer a big physical presence, Nakamba can do that on occasions but not really sure he's capable of doing it 30 times a season otherwise he'd be starting every week for DS.

Or sign a fantastic attacking midfielder like the one Jas keeps suggesting.

Winks just feels more of the same of what we currently have in midfielder rather than a real difference maker in the trio.

Seen a few saying we're trying to model Liverpool by just playing three similar types in central midfield....big difference there is their front 3 tends to chip in with 50-60 goals a season so we'd be needing 20 + from Ollie and at least 15 from Jack or other wide players.

Agreed, the last thing we need is more of the same and no better or worse. Would be a complete waste of funds. If we’re signing a new midfielder, it needs to be a different type or a major upgrade.

McGinn, Sanson & Luiz are all good players but also quite similar and quite short in stature. I am expecting quite a lot from Sanson next season and hope he can really push McGinn and maybe even take his CM spot. Luiz could return to form and improve. I hope McGinn is fit and firing, needs to work on his conditioning as he can be a bit of a liability when he isn’t at peak fitness and his game relies on energy and stamina. When he has that, he’s a massive asset to the team.

Carney is the future but I don’t see much to write home about Ramsey.

I’d like us to have at least the option of a strong and dominant DM who can help us control and retain possession and help us out in the physical battle - stop us getting overpowered or outmuscled in certain games. Or a tough, quality CM if we’re going to be sticking with Luiz at DM and/or as a DLP. An SMS type?

Some aerial ability and an added danger from corners and crosses would be most welcome too.

Personally I think there’s loads of ‘meh’ links at present. The Buendia link excited me as I thought he’d be brilliant for us and really help take some of the burden of Grealish.

Links to Winks, Cantwell, etc do nothing for me. I have to admit I’m a bit like that about Smith-Rowe as well, better players and value in Europe.

I personally don’t see the obsession of bringing in another CM/DCM ahead of either back up ST or CB.

Now depending who we play as AM, we have two CM slots up for grabs and we have SJM, Luiz, Sansom, Nakamba and Ramsey.

So unless SJM gets pushed up into AM or Ramsey goes out on loan we have 5 CMs fighting for two spots.

But even if we do get another one in I wouldn’t spend silly money. Berg, Sarr or even Will Hughes.

I know we’ve been linked to JWP - and I think he’s be great - but I wouldn’t want to see that transfer as spending Jack’s transfer fee.

Because we could do with a starting CM as it is the weakest link in our team apart form AM/LW wherever jack isn't playing.

Just bust the porn brothers and give Wet Spam £80m plus a van load of dildos for Declan Rice.

If only, we may all know we're heading in the direction of ovee taking them but after their season they will be having the same hopes as us as breaking the top 4 and we'd be a step down for him. If he moves, he goes to Chelsea or United imo. I'd like him though, even if I don't necessarily believe him to be as good as pundits and others make out he'd be an amazing addition for us

Haven’t been in this thread a couple of days.

I was just on some Spurs forum enjoying the meltdown of them appointing Nuno when to my horror some guy posts ‘villa want winks for £25m’

Their collective reaction was that they should snap off our hand grabbing that money.

Harry **** Winks.

No **** thank you.

Winks is OK.

As with anyone from England, the price will be massive and not worth it.

Spurs, Everton, Arsenal are packed with these average players on big deals.

We can take advantage.
