Davis, El ghaz and trez coming on shows we still need better quality from the bench. Sanson will improve us

To be fair, Trez and El Ghazi aren’t bad options but should have come on sooner. Not just saying it in hindsight, wanted it from around the 65 minute mark.

Why do people seem to think we had the divine right to win tonight based on the first half? We were crap second half and didn’t react when Burnley were on top.

because for the majority of the game we completely outclassed them and it was fine margins that gave them the win. we were the better team, but shafted ourselves and they got a bit lucky especially for their second goal.

If Davis is the answer then clearly Smith hasn't understood the question!

I know he only had a few minutes but he did more defensive work for Burnley than any help for us.  Not his fault for tonight obviously but such a weak player to come on.

We didn’t outclass them in the second half at all. First half we were exceptional but you don’t win anything in 45 minutes.

Played well and lost. Just one of those games (again!)

1 point from 2 games against Burnley though - should have beat them twice.

McGinn poor again.

Barkley worryingly shit again.

Davis still completely useless, I don't care whether it's 90 mins or 5 mins, it's painfully clear that he is not a winner.

Grealish unplayable. One of those games where he'll be seething with the efforts of those around him (apart from Ollie).

Martinez is brilliant but should have got a hand on two of those three.

Crap one unfortunately. Need a huge lift for Southampton or they'll do us again, too.

Nothing has depressed me quite like seeing Keinan **** Davis plod on to the pitch in the dying minutes as we try to find a goal. How the **** was a backup striker not an absolute priority in January? We may as well raffle a spot on the bench.

It's true, if Ollie gets injured, what's the plan then? Barry?? Davis just isn't a goalscorer. Convert him to a CB, FFS.

Pope made 8 high quality saves. Barkley was really unlucky to hit the bar - that deflection helped Burnley a lot. It would have easily gone in otherwise.

Pope also wasted a minute of the stoppage time in the first half with his goal kick and the ref did nothing.

I thought Burnley were awful.

But really poor defending from a corner, and a high ball to Wood (not sure why Targett is marking him). and a fluke goal cost us. And the fact that we didn't sub to combat Burnley's threats.

So dissappionting.
