That's just disgusting, just heard the premiership interpretation and it's BS for the first goal!

Gutted, we were robbed of a point because that changes the game.  Not even sure the hand ball was hand ball but was so peeved off after the first goal.......

Get stuffed Ref, Linesman and VAR......that's just BS

Targett MOTM, quality performance and I'm not his greatest fan but was awesome tonight.

Grealish is a superstar but not sure how people have put him down as MOTM, I thought it was one of his quieter games and not because of him but we just couldnt get him in the game much.

You could tell we looked a bit rusty but this run out will do us good ready for our next game.  We gave City a good game and did ourselves no disservice.

Ref poor....but no surprise they favour big six teams.

Traore really needs to start helping out Cash more, but going forwards has some quality touches.

if the ball nicked off a defenders head from a cross and then headed in by an attacker who was in an offside position initially, they would NEVER EVER EVER award that as a goal because of ‘deliberate play’ and i’m 100% positive there are many recent examples that would support that. And in those situations the attacker isn’t tackling the defender form behind.

Its offside.

You're wrong. A player in an offside position cannot tackle the player that intercepted the pass to him. Offside.

Corruption. They are out to protect each other. Carragher was correct when he called it a mafia.

Killing the game. Im sick of us gettin screwed every week.

Had that been us who did that i gurantee you they would have given offside against us

As soon as the ball leaves the City players head the whistle should be blown if the offside player in any way impacts the games.

exactly, and what used to happen before linesmen were told to keep the flags down so VAR can make the big call. A joke.

Shafted by VAR again.

They're saying it was a different phase of play. How? He barely even controlled the ball before it was taken off of him.

Exactly, he was moving towards the ball before Mings had taken it down

Flag always goes up in that situation, clearly interfering in play

Can we rate the commentators on this one? Calling the wrong players all game long, including the goalscorer...

And saying Paul Lambert was in charge in our 2007 2-0 win over city with Carew and Maloney on the score sheet, imagine the outrage from Liverpool fans if we confused Roy Hodgson with Rafa Benitez

They have deliberately done this, the PGMOL - they have made the rules so piddly and open to interpretation that they can argue in whatever direction they like to justify their shit decisions.

Idiot football spectators and wannabe "pundits" like Dr. Robert Savage are too stupid to realise this, so when Peter Walton or whoever comes on and justifies the decision "according to the rules" they shrug and say "Oh well there you go. It's refereeing by the book then. Good goal."

When you see these refs and their superiors for what they are, it does make you question whether there's a point to watching a game like tonight. Or any game, if you think on it hard enough.

Seriously, if that's the way the officials see that rule then surely every team can now just keep their forwards in an offside position right at the defender's back and force them into an error?

Best league in the world, apparently...

Exactly this.

The way the club should handle this is in our next game, we get Watkins to stand 5 meters behind thier centre back all game.

We play long balls in the air aiming for thier center back.

When the ball comes to the center back, Watkins runs in nd challenges.

Hell never be offside, and would get at least a couple of chances per game

And there is no way they can call him offside, after what they have just done to us.

It gets to the point whenever we play any of the top 5 teams you can literally put money on us getting shafted by the ref or VAR.

Our defence was quality today especially Targett, everyone else was well off the pace, Barkely, Luiz and McGinn were all dire. Traore is a enigma who is class one second and dire the next.

Mings did so much good and was under so much pressure that no defender in his position would have managed to defend like that against the form side for 90 mins.

Considering we hadn't played for 3 weeks I thought we were very good, yes City are quality and had a lot more chances but the back 4 were superb. Still gutted and raging about the first goal, hope we take it out on Newcastle.

I’m afraid Peter Walton has just explained why the first goal was legitimate. Mings played the ball so that plays the previously offside player on.

Anyway, we battled hard & gave Man C almost as  good as we got. Missed a couple of good scoring chances though. You just can’t do that against a side like Man C.

Defended really well except for Mings’s lapse.

Have given Grealish MOTM for the way he drove almost all of our attacks forward. But Martinez was superb as ever and - I fear @vreitti won’t like this - Targett had another excellent game.

Onward to Newcastle!
