Not sure what his role was tbfh. Was he a 10 or an 8? Was he supposed to be our creative spark ahead of Mcginn and Luiz as I never saw any of that.

At one point he seemed to he playing left wing and channeling his inner Stewart Downing.

It was a mess. I felt bad for him. Being dicked around so Smith's lovechild can continue to waddle around.

Play him where he is comfortable or don't play him at all. Second PL game and he is being asked to be something I don't think he is.

He's not a playmaker, 8 is where he played for Marseille with licence to get forward and get the odd goal, usually got 4-5 a season for them.

Similar to what McGinn was doing for us a while back so that's an issue going forward as it's a bit samey in midfield there (not helped by Barkley being a bust last two months).

We can't judge Sanson on this season.  He has just come to a strange country and the PL.  He has said in an interview how he has been surprised with intensity, even of the training.  He's going to need a pre-season at least.

I agree that he needs time to settle, but I think the bold is a stretch for a French person playing in England 😂

Thats our main problem for me.

Looked like he was about to get involved more on the left and have an effect like where Jack creates, then got subbed, ridiculous decision to take him off.

I totally agree.

We went down to 10 men when he came off.

It's being reported on football insider

Shockingly it's from an unknown source who says the corridors of power are unhappy, he's not as technical as we wanted and Smith is under fire because we let Hourihane go and Sanson isn't considered an upgrade

I'd file it firmly under utter bollocks

Stinks of bullpoo tbh. How many games has Sonson started... um... 1? I think a fair early evaluation can be made at the end of the season. He already works harder than Hourihane so not looking like a downgrade even now.

At the moment I am not sold in Sanson but at the same time I reckon Sanson is still an upgrade on Conor, maybe not much but he is.

As for the Villa powers in charge not being happy about the signing of Sanson because apparently not enough homework was done then if this is the case and one of Lange's Scouts dropped the ball, they need to be told sort it out or get out. Sanson could potentially be Lange's first ball drop, I do think in the summer though that maybe having out midfield 3 as subs would be an heck of a set of 3 subs to have on the bench so long as we can find much better in a CDM, ATM and a Midfielder who specialises in interceptions and ball retrieving.

So far I am hoping we find 2-3 midfielders and 2 Wingers in the summer to compete next season for Europe. I believe defence is find apart from a LB and RB to replace Elmo and Taylor. Who knows how Wes is going to work out but we could end up needing a striker there but hope we don't don't as I like Wesley. So yeah I do believe some Wingers and Midfielders would be spot on to make us real tough to beat.
