While valuing stadiums is far from my area of expertise, I think the valuation is based on a revenue model to estimate the rental value. As there will be extra income next year from Coventry renting the ground, their bill should go up. St Andrews is valued at about £900k at the moment and if Coventry are paying around £1.2m (a figure I've previously read they were paying for the Ricoh), theoretically the valuation should go up to around this level. The annual bill is about 50% of the valuation so they could potentially end up paying an extra £150k a year. Possibly even more. I'm not feeling petty enough to write a letter to try and get this changed, but if there was another zero on the end of the figures I'd be sorely tempted! Out of interest who would a petty person need to write to and what would they need to say? Asking for a petty friend. 2

In the hypothetical scenario that they got Jose and no budget then I think he'd probably keep them up. But yeah you're right, he wouldn't go unless he had reassurances about money.

I agree, like Rafa Jose will have them organised and working hard enough go avoid the drop by doing the basics well.
useless
Benitez is a good a very good manager, but I think people are overestimating the job he did in keeping them up, their squad isn't much worse than most other teams outside the top ten or so clubs. Unless they make an absolute disastrous appointment I think they'll be fine, as most managers should manage to keep them in the league, even if it's someone like Moyes or Hughes. I doubt that Mourinho would go there even if they have money to spend, I think that after United he'll want a job where he's virtually guaranteed success, just to rebuild his reputation a bit. After Wasps acquired ACL, the rent dropped to £100,000. Bit of a bargain really and SISU still couldn't just accept the £1.1m bonus and get on with it. useless
According to that Almajir mentioned a couple of pages back they've had the sale of their ground approved by the EFL. It might help their FFP situation, but if it's their owners they've sold it to, then I'm not sure it's the wisest move.

They still need to meet the regulations, which if reports are to be believed they will really struggle to do. Hopefully they get relegated this season and then get a new points deduction in League 1.
Rob182
That makes sense. Their wage bill was at 200% compared to their turnover, wasn't it? But I still think they get the next few years to evidence no losses over XYZ over a 3-year period. Unless they breach the 3-year loss amount in one year, which is unlikely. I suppose every little helps when you're a little tinpot outfit!

There were already loans against the ground from the owners to the club I believe so I assume they’ve effectively transferred ownership of the ground to wipe out the loan. Possibly injecting some cash as well. On the face of it that is good news for them. However if that cash is simply being used to help service their inflated wage bill then trouble is coming further down the line unless income significantly increases or wages are reduced. if they sell Adams and we Butland that will make the world of difference to them. VillaJ100
The thing with the stadium loophole is its a one time thing. There's no future money coming. Which is great news! Let's hope they get some O'Neill or Arry type chancer to blow the lot.
