Newcastle potential ‘Covid Outbreak’

Why are other clubs not having COVID outbreaks? If they didn't follow self-isolation rules then it's their fault, so we either play it or we get the 3 points.

We're already a game behind, being 2 games behind in the compact season we have would be a joke.

It's just another situation in which the PL want to **** us over though.

It's hard to see them being successful in asking for a postponement. There's already a precedent of teams (albeit not in the premier league) being forced to play games with severe covid outbreaks. Shakhtar had 10 players out when they played Real in the CL. And Grenada had to play a game the other week without their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice keepers. In fact they had so few players the game might be null and void because they didn't field enough eligible players (they only had 4 first team players by the final whistle)

Clever from Bruce. That root vegetable-headed cockwomble hasn't been able to get near a Dean Smith-managed side since the 2 first met. Although infecting his whole club with a virus is above the call of duty even for him. You've got to play the fixture some time. May aswell play it now while you have an excuse other than 'I'm a shit manager with the tactical nous of a butternut squash'

From The Times today:

It was thought that clubs could ask for fixtures to be postponed if their first-team squad was reduced to 14 players as a result of a Covid-19 outbreak but the Premier League has not confirmed a definitive number and will review each case individually.

Any club would have to appeal to the Premier League board to have a fixture postponed. For their case to be heard successfully, they would have to show that a particular position had been adversely affected.

Matches in the Football League have been postponed, not cancelled, in the event of outbreaks.

That is the precedent that they will be trying to use, I can see them getting what they want from the PL! :(

Don’t know how they can ask for it to be postponed when they haven’t even gave numbers of confirmed cases to the premier league, says in the rules less than 14 players available and that includes the under 21 squad

Absolute joke, I hope we even take legal action.

Behave! We would be screaming for it to be called off if we were in the same position.

Are Skybet taking money on whether or not it goes ahead? The wording on this reads like the carefully thought out misleading bullshit they say about transfers to influence their betting market.

Why are other clubs not having an outbreak? It's not our fault they can't contain and it puts us at a severe disadvantage as we will have to squeeze in two extra games in an already condensed PL season.

The issue for the premier league is that if they delay this match then there is no guarantee that things will be any better for Newcastle next weekend (and may be worse) and then they will need to make another decision about another postponement.

I will be severely pissed off if our match is delayed and then Newcastle are forced to play their match next weekend with a severely weakened team and it ends up being a walkover for their next opposition.

The thing that pisses me off most, is that a postponement disproportionately affects us more, yet we aren't the team with an outbreak due to not being able to manage it properly. It's a joke. Take em to the cleaners Purslow.
