I think we have been decent, the defence needs to stop pushing so high by a few metres and Watkins needs to be central much more.

Brighton are awful but fortunately for them, the unprofessional showboaters have arrived this week. You have to questioning the attitude of players that lose to such poor teams reguarly when they have shown they are perfectly capable of playing at a much better standard.

I don't care how 'close' it is or that we 'should' be winning, it's quite clear that Brighton have this in the bag today and will run away with it in second half on the counter. 

McGinn has been awful. Trezeguet is so intent of scoring on his 50th appearance that he's wasted countless opportunities smashing it in to row ZZ. Watkins has been asleep and committed to nothing. Luiz is standing off his player every time. Targett wants to take about twenty touches too many. Mings still thinks he's all that and his passing and basic positioning gets worse every week.

MOTM is Martinez and nothing in the first half has suggested that's likely to change in the second. I'm genuinely fuming with that half, way too many players have shown such a poor attitude and it's only due to quality from the likes of Grealish and how defensive Brighton are that it's close at all. Analyse the chances and really it shoukd be 3 or 4 to Brighton.

Far,far too open as a team.

Brightons tactics are so fundamental, yet we are struggling with them.

defensively, woeful......could easily be a repeat of the southampton half time score.

our own misses have been very unlucky, but that sometimes happens, hence can't be too open.

Your straw man is a bit obvious here - nobody has compared him to Rui Costa or even close.

He gives us a set piece threat, whereas McGinn is giving us nothing at all at the moment.

If we score early 2nd half i think brighton will start getting nervous.

But i can see us attacking leaving ourselves exposed at the back and a sucker punch 2-0.

Losing to bloody leeds southampton and brighton at home is really poor.

Actually already expected a lame Villa performance after international intentional.. Mccgin /Ming are playing poorly & affects the rest... if they are tired in first half it’s gonna get worst later ... need some early subs

After watching his cameos that is all I can judge him on. And from what I've seen, he doesn't have the pace I thought he would have, and so far hasn't worked for the team very hard.

Again, ridiculous take in my opinion. No one has implied he is amazing or “got better” as you put it, you’ve just invented that yourself. McGinn has lost the ball at every single opportunity. Hourihane won’t come on and play a blinder but he won’t be any worse, and we could use his set piece ability in a game like this.

We've been the better side, but there was always a chance that we'd lose today, despite our good start to the season we can't get ahead of ourselves, we're still a team that's capable of losing to any other team in the division, and this won't be last time we lose this season to so a so called 'lesser' team, these kind of results are inevitable, not just for us but pretty much every team in the league.
