Our defence has gone back to being Championship standard, I hope we'll be looking at some new defenders, a CB and a LB for me (Cash deserves more time seeing as he was signed this season). Wijndal from AZ would be a good shout for LB.

I personally like our midfield when everyone is fit, but don't think Trezeguet is good enough to be starting every week and Traore hasn't exactly set the world alight. So a new starting winger should be looked at, maybe revisit Sarr from Watford. The Rashica thing is obviously annoying, but he's been linked again recently. If he's serious about joining then we should revisit, otherwise move on.

Wesley coming back will be good for Watkins, could do with competition and allows him to play wide if necessary.

I agree with all that, except the Midfield......I think we need a General in there a bit more robust, like Kalvin Phillips or Ward Prowse or a ratter like Savage ( but a better version)....the rest I agree.

but remember the midfield should have variation, so Dean can mix it up a bit, depending who we play......too samey, for me.

I would bet my last shilling, we will just go out and buy offensive players again.....it is disproportionate for me.

If the price is right, Giroud on loan I think would be invaluable. It gives the club a chance to ease Wes back in and also take a bit of pressure off Watkins. He'll want to make the Euros in the summer so motivation shouldn't be a factor.

I agree a general would really help the side off the ball, which is clearly an issue. Douglas Luiz is an outstanding midfielder and I fear Cit£h will at some point activate whatever clause he has in his contract, but he's still learning and for me is more of a deeper playmaker than a tough tackling midfielder like Gattuso was. This could be why at times it seems sides can cut through us easily.

Phillips would be good but I think that ship has now sailed given Leeds' promotion, players like Berge and Anguissa even though they play for poor teams in this league are clearly quite good and could be worth a punt. They are probably more box to box midfielders though, if we're looking for a DM specialist we will need to do some good scouting.

Targett was not quite up to the defensive duties yesterday. We need much faster left back. We dominated the game from start to end, but fell asleep twice in the beginning of each half and that cost us. Grealish another planet, but also Trez was great.

I wasn't suggesting Phillips, you are right, that ship has sailed.....I was suggesting someone like him.

They are all over Europe, the scouts need to put their specs on.

I know I will bring the board crashing down.....I don't see in Dougie, what many do on here, maybe I'm looking for something thats not there......I am not saying he is bad, by any stretch of the imagination, but not as goods a some maintain.....but hey its just opinions and he is young, there is time for me to get more excited.

Ps As you would expect, I don't think Man City, will come calling, unless they have just got lazy in their scouting.

They seen something in Wes too.

I see something in Doug.....just don't think it lies so deep, I think he is more a playmaker, than a DM

I could play for Brazil and get away with it.....look, just kidding.

I'm a fan of Luiz but I'm not sure the anchorman role suits him. I actually think he'd thrive in his position if he was next to a Gattuso/Phillips/Ndidi type, but at the mo he's being asked to do the dirty work all on his own which I don't think he's great at. Cit£h may or may not activate his clause, no one knows, but there has been speculation and of course Pep likes him. But as Leicester have shown when losing key players, they are easily replaceable if you have a good scouting team.

I think we need more pace in our team in general.

I agree.....He is not the player, that plays that role for me.

He was neat and tidy last night and came further forward, in the scond half, but hand on heart, can't think of anything outstanding he did.....He has the typical Brazillian neat a tidy traits to his game, would I leave him out/No...but needs to play, further forward for me.

He didn't do anything wrong last night, his passes were good, but, I can't honestly say in terms of causing the opposition grief ( effectiveness) what he did.......they just retreated with their midfield 2 ,so there wan't much to compete with.

Good to see other folks starting to see it too.

Been banging on it for a year now.

Really wished Nakamba would work out. Luiz/McGinn would be great options to have and mean we could rotate more.

Said it before but wouldn't shock me if Man. City offer us Yangel Herrera as a short of sweetner to get Luiz back. He's followed similar trajectory to Luiz. Only 22 himself and probably played better in Spain than Luiz did given he's a key player for Granada who finished 7th last season and are doing well in europa league this year.

He's box to box aswell as he chips in with goals but remember Luiz was seen as box to box player when he came in and we've moulded him nicely into a DM over last six months. Herrera is over 6ft so more of a unit.

Obligatory highlights video 😉

Darwin Marchis is also a very decent player for them in the wide forward role so another we could look at.

Looks a good shout and again really young too. I wouldn't be against this idea.

I like some others on here, e.g. TRO, have been waiting for us to sign a really physical, dominant CDM for years. This physicality would then free up Doug to play a bit more advanced and provide options throughout the midfield. We have very little controlled aggression in the middle of the park and will usually get over run by a more physical opposition. Berkley gives us some physicality but in a more advanced position.

Due to FFP, our hands will be massively tied in Jan and we all know there are many gaps to fill. I just feel that a dominant, commanding CDM would enable us to grind out results when we are not at our best and give us that steel we have been missing there for years.

We can’t loan him because we’ve already got Barkley.

True. If he gives the nod to Chelsea he fancies a move he’ll go to a club higher up the pyramid than us unfortunately.

We need a big, strong tough motherf***** in midfield with a bit of bite.

I feel we lack that edge at times. That bit of bite.

Play him alongside Luiz and you sure up the defence and allow the front 4 to do their thing. Or just give it to Jack.

Can see Giroud being the sort who'll sign for the Beckham backed MLS team although perhaps he wouldn't go there in January as he still wants to get in the French euros squad.
